The only thing that would improve the campground is full hookups. We stayed in the west loop this time , but we have stayed in the east loop before as well. The sites in the west loop are more private. There are laundry facilities in the east loop. The local area is really cool, lots of things to see and shops to go in. Don't miss Brockway mountain drive for the sunset(and the only place in town for cell signal). Another neat place is a bakery on M26 outside of town called the Jampot that is run by Byzantine monks, excellent baked goods!!
The view of Lake Superior was beautiful! Site was back-in electric only. There was an asphalt pad for the trailer and some grass and dirt with a fire ring and table. Site had good vegetation around it for privacy. Went in to Calumet for ice cream at what looked to be an old gas station at one time that is now a coffee house, good stuff. Also good are the pasties at Jim's pizza in Calumet.
Stayed here two nights, Saturday and Sunday, and the campground was very relaxing/quiet. There was an ice cream social on Saturday evening for 75 cents. The campground staff were very friendly. The local area had some nice sights to see and tours of various attractions. There is also whitewater rafting on the Menominee river on the Wisconsin side about 15 minutes from the campground. The site we had was a full hookup pull through that was level. The only negative item I have is that the electrical and water hookups are by the road and the sewer hookup is near the middle, so you either need an extension cord and long water hose or a long sewer hose. We really enjoyed our stay here and would return.
