I loved this campground. In fact, during our two week stay in the area we came back to Mammoth and had no problems getting a site (the same one we had during our first stay). The sites a roomy and far enough apart so that you're not right on top of your neighbors. An elk herd came through the campground each morning and evening. One day we had two elk herds! I would definitely stay here again.
This campground was a stop on our way home from Yellowstone. Easy to find, very helpful, friendly staff. We had a nice little site right next to the lake, restrooms were clean. Overall a great experience. Lots of families and big trailers.
This was probably the worst and ultimately most expensive stay at a campground we've ever encountered. We were on our way home from Yellowstone and needed a place to stop for the night. The signs directing you to the campground are difficult to follow and very sparse. No one was at the campground entrance when we arrived, so we self-registered. It was dark and impossible to find the actual campsites. We ended up sleeping (unhitched) in the parking lot of the boat launch but prior to that ended up in a ditch, jackknifed the trailer causing considerable damage to tow vehicle, some to the trailer. Overall, it was a horrible experience.
