When we called to make the reservation, the lady who answered the phone (owner???) seemed to be distracted and apparently didn't record our correct arrival date or site requirements. So when we arrived they had no sites available for roof-top satellite and told us we were a day late arriving! We had planned to stay two nights but only stayed one. Utilities were well placed and all worked well. Gravel roads; gravel site was level and long enough to accommodate our 40' rig with attached cargo trailer. Will not return, mostly due to attitude by owner/staff.
New owners - 2 years ago. They have worked diligently to add tons of gravel to the roads and sites as well as putting up a wood fence across the front of the property. All is kept up well and all utilities are well-placed and in good working order. Sites in the back are a little close together, but are 100 feet long. Owner/operators are wonderful. Will definitely stay again.
New owners of 4 weeks! They are making changes and updating the sites and facilities at a rapid pace. We had a nice, pull-thru site overlooking the golf course next door. Only issue would be if the park were full, the sites would be difficult to get in and out of. Plenty of places to walk a dog. All utilities worked well. Easy on and off. Would definitely stay again. Good luck.
Good location; close to all that Dodge City has to offer. We stayed in the back section with long pull-thru sites. The buildings all appeared to have been freshly painted and in good shape. Utilities all worked well. Plenty of places to walk the dog. Stayed an extra day due to the bad storm north of us which gave us time to visit the Casino next door. Would definitely stay again.
This is our go-to place to stay in Amarillo. We like the park and the facilities. Utilities are well-located, in good shape, and all worked well. Lots of info available in the office and staff is very helpful. Visited Palo Duro Canyon this time (got Cadillac Ranch last visit), and a MUST for us is dinner at the Big Texan. Due to the bad storms north of us, we stayed an extra 2 days which gave us time to enjoy the breakfast buffet at the Big Texan. Yum! Great location. Will definitely stay again!
Easy on and off I-25. Military discount given. Two different entry signs so there was a little confusion. Great hosts and campers...invited us to partake of their Easter potluck. Mostly long-term sites. Our pull-thru was fine and long enough for the coach, trailer w/Can-Am, and a Jeep. Utilities worked well. Would stay again.
While signage could be better, the directions we received over the phone were spot-on. We had a nice long pull-thru with plenty of room for our 38' RV, trailer with Can-Am and a Jeep. Utilities well-placed in the site and all worked well. Price reflects Passport America rate. Would definitely stay again.
Brand new park; we were there for opening weekend. Amenities - pool, etc., - were great. However, all interior roads are very narrow. The sites, while nice and long and paved, are very narrow. Even with no slideouts, you could not walk around your rig while on the slab. Areas between sites are still mud as no grass has been planted yet. When this park is full, it will be extremely difficult to maneuver a rig of any size due to the narrowness of the roads. Seems they should have put in fewer sites and widened the roads and the individual sites.
Easy in off I-10. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were in a long pull-through site near the back of the park so didn't hear any road noise. All utilities worked well. We needed propane and they went the extra mile for us. Would definitely stay again.
Office staff friendly, but not knowledgeable of site amenities. Asked for roof-top satellite site and was given one with trees. Not a big deal...we read instead. Easy in and out. All utilities worked. Quiet at night. We were far enough from I-10 that we weren't bothered by road noise. Needs some clean up of bottle caps, cigarette butts, plastic trash. Would stop again for an overnight, but probably NOT during the summer when it would be full of kids.
Lots of construction in the area; call campground to get best directions!!! Once inside the park, it is nice. Lots of very friendly snowbirds. They came over to jump start our Jeep and invited us to all the activities they had planned for the 2 days we were there. All back-in sites, but plenty of room for our 40' plus towed. Good water pressure. Utilities all worked well. Park well maintained. Very nice staff. Close to everything we wanted to do in the area. Our cost was Passport America for one night and full price for the second night. Would definitely stay again.
Old facility, needs lots of work. Narrow roads, potholes, blacktop falling apart or has disappeared. Fairly heavily wooded but were able to get roof-top satellite in site 15. Staff was nice enough but not very enthusiastic...kind of like we were a bother. Wi-Fi was terrible. That said, it was okay for an overnight stop.
Lots of trouble contacting the office. Office staff didn't know much, such as "I don't know nothing about Wi-Fi or any of that stuff." The interior roads are in horrible shape. That being said, we were in a long pull-thru with clear view for satellite, and all utilities worked well. Sites are VERY close together. Would stay again if necessary, but would not go out of our way.
Signage is terrible. Online directions say park is on the right. Nope...it's on the left. Good thing we arrived during light traffic time! Very difficult to find office to register. Once we found it, however, check-in was easy and staff was friendly. All sites are loose pea gravel. All utilities worked well. Would stay again, especially now that we know where it is located.
Good Sam discount $38.52. Office staff was very friendly. Narrow interior roads. Big-rig pull-thru sites have a LEVEL concrete pad. All utilities worked well. All sites in the trees so no satellite. Lots of unpaved interior roads, so beware. Staff knowledge of big rig ability to turn is limited. Would only stay again if necessary.
Great location for visiting family and friends. Once you've been here, it is easy to find. That first time can be difficult, though! Office staff does leave something to be desired. All utilities worked well. Laundry room very clean and all in working order. Will definitely stay here again!
Signage was terrible! Good thing wife was leading in our tow vehicle and her GPS told her to turn! Check-in was easy, staff friendly. Sites are in a "T" layout. Because of our length we had both sites. Nice...crowded otherwise. All utilities worked well. Great location for seeing the sights. A little expensive, but all in this area are...you pay for the location. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed here to attend the Hershey RV Show. We made our reservations in January and were guaranteed a satellite-friendly site. When we arrived we were told "so sorry, none available and no place to move you" and were put in dense trees and no offer of a discount was made. Other than that our site was level and all utilities worked well. Probably would not return because of the satellite issue and high price.
Good location for visiting Flight 93 National Memorial; you pass through beautiful PA farmland to get to the park. Very bumpy and narrow interior roads. YOUNG staff sent us down the wrong interior road to our site...luckily we walked it first and made correct adjustment. All utilities worked well. Nice space between sites. Had a wonderful dinner at the Oakhurst Tea Room nearby (smorgasbord). Would stay again.
Tried repeatedly to make a reservation; no one returned our calls. Decided to wing it. Directions were somewhat confusing but we did find the park. Had to bang on the door of the community center and then was rudely asked if we had a reservation. Told him the story and we were "allowed" to stay. While all utilities worked well, feel the price was too high. However, would stay again as it's the only place in town!
We had a nice level, back-in site with the newly added cable. Great! All utilities are well-placed and worked well. On-site owners and work staff were professional and extremely friendly and helpful. Owners are constantly working to improve the park and amenities. Yes, there is noise from I-64. However, once inside the coach we couldn't hear it. Sites for every need: shade/sun/cable/ satellite/pull-through/back-in. Last reviewer is incorrect on 2 points. According to the brochure, firewood is available for purchase; they ask you not to bring firewood in, as there is an import ban due to Emerald Ash Borer problems. As for firearms, the brochure states "Firearms, fireworks, weapons, are not allowed within Campground." What you have INSIDE your camper is private. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!
Easy on and off the highway. Easy check-in at the Phillips 66 gas station. Long, level gravel sites. Good location for utilities; all worked well. Open for roof-top satellite. Dinner at Iowa's Best Burger Cafe (inside the gas station) is definitely a must. Do not miss it! The $10 t-shirts are pretty fun, too. We would definitely return if/when in the area.
Good overnight stop. Easy check-in. No escort to site. Did not see specific area to walk the dog, but had no trouble finding a place to take him. There were many long-term rigs for workers in the area. Quiet at night; no issues. Would stay again.
Easy on and off the highway. Narrow access road through residential area and sharp left turn into park. Check-in was easy; staff friendly and helpful. Site was long, narrow, and definitely NOT level. Used 2 layers of boards on driver's side to even approach level. Utilities worked well. Lots of trees; not really an issue as long as you go very slowly. Would not stay again.
Rate reflects Passport America discount. A little out of the way, but a lovely park. Lots of sites along the creek. Check-in was easy; staff was friendly and helpful. Utilities in a good location; all worked well. We were in one of the few sites with no shade - by request - so we could receive roof-top satellite. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
A little off the highway, down a frontage road. Sharp left turn into park, then another left. Easy check-in; friendly and helpful staff. Heavily wooded sites. Staff knew we needed roof-top satellite and took us to one of the few sites you could get it. Lovely, long, level, wooded site. Utilities were in good location and all worked well. Clean laundry room; all worked well. Would stay again if in the area.
Great place to stay a day or two. Easy in and out. Check-in easy; staff/owners very friendly and helpful. Very shaded park with old-growth trees. Lovely! Fenced dog park. We had a nice, long pull-through in an open area - no problem for our roof-top satellite. Level, gravel sites. Utilities in good location and they all worked well. We stayed one night, in a hurry the next morning and left our quick-disconnect water connection. Called the owner the next day and she graciously sent it to us right away. Way above and beyond! Would definitely stay again when in the area.
Nice, new park. Mature trees which provided nice, high shade. Some issues with roof-top satellite, so changed sites. No issues with Wi-Fi. Concrete, level sites. Very convenient to all that is available in Oklahoma City. Utilities in good location; all worked well. Some road noise from I-44. Would stay again.
Okay park. Check-in was quick, staff was friendly and helpful. Sites are close together.and a little short for our 40 foot motor home with Jeep attached. Quite expensive for what you get. Would probably stay elsewhere next time.
This is a membership park - Escapees. Gravel sites, small trees located throughout park. Utilities in good location; worked well. Rate is actually $12.50 per day plus electric. Friendly staff. Nice park. We always stay here when visiting family. Close to St. Clair Winery. High desert area, so there is dust and cactus; not much green. Will definitely stay again.
Nice park close to all that Las Cruces has to offer, including Old Mesilla. Quick and efficient check-in; escort to site. Staff was friendly and helpful. Utilities are in a good location and worked well. Sites are a little close together. Sites are pea gravel (raked as soon as someone departs) and level. Entire park is beautifully maintained. Will definitely stay again.
Rate is Passport America. Absolutely no frills. Find a site and then go check-in and pay at the gas station. Nothing else there, but a great location for an overnight. It's in the desert so there is dust, dust, more dust, and cactus. Will definitely stay again when passing by.
We were heading west on I-10 and needed a quick overnight stop. Boy are we glad we stopped here. What a lovely park. The managers were very friendly and helpful. We were given a coupon to use on our next visit! Long, level site so we didn't have to unhook our Jeep. We had a small covered cabana with table and chairs. Park is well-kept and clean. Would definitely stay again.
Great location for visiting all that San Antonio has to offer. Park has key coded security gate. Check-in was quick, staff was friendly and helpful. Escort to site. Chuckwagon breakfast on weekends. Yum! Will definitely stay again and stay longer.
We stay here 1 or 2 times a year as we travel I-10. Lovely park. Check-in is taken care of quickly and park staff is always friendly and helpful. Pull-thru sites are long, paved and level. Utilities are in well-situated posts with lights. Trash pick up at site is a nice feature. Nice pathway around the lake to walk whether you have a pet or not. Definitely stay again.
Wow! Lovely, long, concrete pads and patio. Nice lighted utility pole and hose caddy, conveniently located. Beautiful, well-cared-for grounds. Lots of activities offered. Lots to do in the area. Staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Owners on-site, visible, and involved in day-to-day operations. First class all the way. Would definitely stay again.
Nice park located next to a gas station and Safeway. Plenty of room for our 40-footer with toad. Great to stay hooked up for an overnight stop. Clean and nicely landscaped. Friendly and helpful staff. Filled propane tank in coach when we checked in. Would stay again.
If you like to fish, this is the place for you! It's quite secluded and well off the beaten path. The park is well-maintained and it is very apparent the owners take care of the park. They are in the process of upgrading many of the larger sites to 50 amp. It was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Four deer wandered wherever they wanted, including through our site: wonderful! Although that did drive our black lab crazy! Staff was friendly and helpful.
Price reflects the America the Beautiful discount; regular fee is $14.00. We had a large, pull-through site with grill and covered picnic table, and plenty of privacy. We did not need to unhook our Jeep which was perfect for an overnight stop. On-site manager to assign sites only: does not handle money, so take exact change for fee. Lovely view of the bridge high above and the canyon below. Would stay again.
Previous comments about the gorge and setting are certainly true, and the golf course is beautiful. Although we made our reservations in February, we were given a site in the least desirable section near the entrance. Dirt sites with a little gravel. Site was not level; used most of our wood blocks. Utilities worked well. Other, nicer sections of the park were empty during the week and only filled up on weekends. And then it was quite noisy. We are full-timers and were in the area to visit family. Despite limited camping facilities in the area, we probably will not return.
Beautiful park with wonderful staff. We were in a back-in site in the front open area near the office, so we had rooftop satellite reception. Quiet and peaceful. Agree with previous comments on the pizza place and dinner at Diamond Lake Lodge (Thielsen Room) was wonderful. And yes, the mosquitoes were prevalent, but generally did not itch or welt up, were just annoying. Our site did not have a fire pit, so the staff built one for us to help with mosquitoes. Visited Crater Lake and many of the waterfalls in the area. Absolutely perfect location. Just bring everything you need as it's 85 miles to a large grocery store; local prices are very high. Fishing was great on Diamond Lake, too. Highly recommend this park. We'll definitely return.
Small, older park. Nice, level, concrete pads. When we made our reservation, we specified we did not want to unhook our toad for an overnighter. So we had to park catty-cornered in 2 sites (only paid for 1) and extended a little into both front and rear access roads. We are 38' coach towing a Jeep Liberty. All utilities worked well. Large field for dog area. Easy access to freeway. Would probably stay again for overnight.
Easy on and off the highway; directions easy to follow. While close to the road, did not hear any road noise or trains while in the coach. Full concrete pads; long pull-throughs. Good utilities and services. Lovely landscaping and grass areas. Beautiful pool area. Would definitely stay again.
Level, gravel sites with small concrete patio. Large oleander shrubs between each site gives nice privacy. Fair sized dog run; no grass but it's the desert. Nice landscaping. The pool area is lovely and on a 105 degree day, the water felt great. You are escorted to your site and registered there. Absolutely painless process. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely park near downtown. Convenient to everything in town. Sites were mostly back-in and had large plantings for privacy. New pull-through sites added along the back for over-nighters. Laundry was small, clean, and seemed adequate. Will definitely stay again.
Great park for small rigs that aren't necessarily concerned about being level. Have not seen a level site anywhere in the park. As full-timers in a 38 foot MH, we have different requirements. We are up on wood blocks on one side. Utilities all work well (really good water pressure) and are conveniently located. Could not ask for a better location to visit the Grand Canyon. Saw 3 large mule deer just wandering through the park! Cool! Would stay again only in a smaller rig.
As full-time RVers, we generally avoid KOAs because they are not a good value for a couple traveling with no children. However, this one appeared to be the best choice in the area. Glad we stayed here. On-site owners (2 couples) were very friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. Breakfast and dinner is available daily for a fee, prepared to order by owners in a chuckwagon-style outdoor diner. All you can eat pancakes, $1.99 ! Plenty of room in the sites; utilities worked well; laundry room was very clean (5 washers/6 dryers). Great for visiting Petrified Forest/Painted Desert and Winslow. Would definitely stay here again.
Price reflects the weekly rate. Very tight for our 38 foot motorhome, but the sites themselves are very nice and private. Was difficult to get level in our site. Owners are onsite and very involved in running the place. All hookups worked well and were conveniently located. Entry road is hard-packed dirt and washboard ruts. Typical desert campground with lots of dust. Great spot to visit Gila Cliff Dwellings. Would stay again if in the area.
A great park for seeing all the Dodge City and Santa Fe Trail sights. We were in a pull-through site in the back with plenty of room for our Jeep. Owners were very helpful and friendly. There is a nice clean laundry room. We didn't use the pool but it looked clean and inviting. Yes, there are train tracks right across the street and a highway, so you definitely hear noise, but it didn't bother us during our two-week stay. Would definitely stay here again.
One of several Corps of Engineer (COE) campgrounds on Council Grove Lake. Our site had a huge cement pad. There was plenty of room for our 40 foot motorhome and our Jeep. Each waterfront site had its own covered shelter, picnic table, grill and fish-cleaning station. No sewer at site, but good dump station on the way out. Bathrooms and showers were very clean, even during/after a "full" weekend of campers and boaters. Close to many historical sites, especially relating to the Santa Fe Trail. Small grocery store in town has everything you need. Would definitely stay here again.
Extremely confusing layout. Roads are only about 10 feet wide with sites on each side. Lots of campers park with awnings out into the roadway making it almost impossible to pull your rig through without hitting them. Sites are close together. Very difficult to navigate the narrow roads when park is crowded due to very odd layout. This is a new campground and the grass areas are not established yet. In heavy rains, the grassy areas turn into mud. Very difficult for pet walking, etc. We had reserved a pull-thru site, but were given a back-in upon arrival (only staying 3 days). Called the owner and he was very accommodating and found us a pull-thru site that would hold our 40 foot fiver and tow vehicle. Would stay again if in the area, only because it appears to be the best alternative.
Nice, family-owned campground located on a family farm. Beautiful green grass between the sites, most of which are well-kept seasonals. The road from the upper level where the office is located down to the campsites is quite narrow, as are all the roads in the campground. Although we didn't use them, the bathrooms and shower rooms are immaculate! Two washers and two dryers. Walk down to a "beach" area on Lake Champlain. Hard to do when we were there as there had just been 4-6 inches of rain. Our rig was literally an island. The owners came to our aid and helped us build up a small "porch" with wooden pallets and plywood so we wouldn't step out into the ankle-deep water. Everyone at this park was friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Very easy access to the highway, but no road noise. Access roads to the sites are very narrow causing the trailer to tilt at sharp angles when negotiating the corners. Site was not level; had to use 4 layers of lego blocks on one side. On the positive side, spacing between the sites was nice and wide with nice grass. The hookups were well positioned. Campground appeared clean and cared for. Quite expensive for an overnight, but nothing else nearby.
Not well marked from the highways. Very narrow roads throughout campground with lots of trees everywhere. Small sites, mostly seasonals. The few "big rig" sites are in the middle (J Section) with a very narrow road to access them. We were lucky to get into our site with 6 inches to spare on power post (we have a 40-foot fifth wheel)! Our neighbor's awning was over our sewer connection. New folks came in with 35 foot fifth-wheel and didn't make the very narrow turn - ran right over the power post on the end. There is a security gate used during the day, but it is left open at night! Our site was definitely not level - had to use 3 levels of lego blocks. Lots of planned activities for kids. Quiet times are strictly enforced. Will not stay here again - not worth the fee charged.
For big rigs, the roads through the campground are quite narrow with large trees everywhere. Definitely need the eyes in the back of your head, we always told our kids we had. We were in one of the "big pull-through" sites and had sufficient room for our 40 foot fifth wheel. However, on departure we elected to back out of the site as there were just too many trees to pull-through. Doubt we could have pulled out without scraping the trailer. None of the sites are particularly friendly for trailers; better suited for motorhomes. Will not stay again for this reason. Good laundry room; staff was friendly.
We are full timers and chose this campground to complete our tour of Maine based on location and what we had read here. The owners keep the grounds and facilities clean and in good working order. Sites are cleaned of any trash and pine cones, the fire rings are cleaned out, and the sites are raked as the occupants leave. Every two sites share a metal trashcan that is emptied several times each day. This is a family campground with lots of activities (swimming pool, lake with swimming area, canoes/kayaks, new miniature golf, a mining sluice, game room) and is very full on the weekends. However, it is quiet at night. For dog owners, there is an enclosed "Bark Park" where you can let your dog off leash; several toys are provided for the dogs to play with as well as "bags" for cleanup. Owners and staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. Only one washing machine and two dryers - could use more of both (we went to a laundromat in town). We would definitely stay here again.
Small, family-owned campground in a perfect location to visit all the lovely towns in the area. This is an adult-only campground, must be 16 years or older. The campground is located on the side of a hill; big rig, pull-thru sites are at the bottom of the hill, smaller, back-in sites are at the top of the hill near the office, laundry, and bathrooms. While sites are big enough for our 40 foot fifth-wheel, it was "challenging" to find a spot to park our truck. We ended up with it parked right outside our door. The owners are working on finding more parking. Speaking of the owners - they are onsite and take great pride in their campground. The grounds are well-kept and clean. There is a really nice, large dog pen for your puppies to play in. The campground is just across the road from a working Amish farm. It has been a wonderful experience watching the family work their farm. It is so quiet and peaceful here. We will return.
After an extremely bad experience at another campground about half-hour away, we "found" this one and decided to stay for a few days. What a pleasant place! The camp hosts were great and took pride in keeping the plants and planters weeded and watered. The bathrooms were kept clean, as were the grounds in general. It was a truly pleasant stay and a good location to visit the wineries in the area. We backed up to the creek and watched the kids tube past. Even got to drown a worm or two! Will definitely stay there again! Edinburg is a lovely little town.
