The location gets a 10. We parked in loop G and were just a short walk to the beach. For a couple of Canadians, being able to walk in the sun on the beach in November was glorious. Our site was comfortable for our 30 foot rig, basically sand but plenty firm. The picnic table and fire ring available were in good condition. While there were sites that would handle much larger rigs, the access to them could be prohibitive because of the width of the roads, some tree issues overhead and to the sides of the road. Electric and water were fine, showers were clean and though we didn't need them, having sinks outside to wash dishes was a nice touch. The reservation system and some of the personnel need a bit of work. We reserved on the phone, but the lady couldn't tell us what time the on site office closed. She also couldn't assign a site. We got here at about 7pm due to extensive traffic and there was nothing and nobody available to tell us where to park. However, there were maps available. Because of the tight appearance of the roads, we walked through a couple of loops until we found a site that would accept our rig and we hooked up and parked. The next day we went to the entry station, which was again unmanned, so we went into town for a few hours. We got back and went to the welcome center, and were directed finally to the park office where a fairly surly young man made the assumption that we were trying to get a freebie. I told him that we had already paid via credit card over the phone and after he confirmed it he admonished me for not coming to the office sooner and that not registering gave the rangers a lot of extra work (!!!) I won't judge the park based on one individual though, and although it would have been been nice to have had an assigned space when we made and paid for our reservation, the stay itself was very pleasant and we would return.
The last couple of reviews are spot on. We stopped here simply because there are few parks open at this time of the year. This is a run down shanty town of a park. The entry road is ok for our 30 foot motor home, but I'd wonder about a big rig. There was a gate with a gate house that was unattended at this time of year, so I had to stop, get out, contact the office on a call box, get back in, drive to the office/registration area and go in to register. No big deal unless it was pouring rain. Had it been raining, the road would have been a mud hole and the site would have been no better. The young lady working the evening shift was disinterested at best. We had a bit of a problem finding our site because of the way the sites were marked and after a quick trip around a circle we parked, and I simply plugged in to the electricity. The only other thing I noticed after a long day of driving was the terrible condition of the picnic table sitting in the dirt on the site. The next morning, I went out to hook up the water and was greeted by the sight of one large trailer sitting on several rows of cinder blocks, another covered with so much mold that I had no idea of whether it was green or originally white. Both were surrounded by junk. I can't report on the laundry or washrooms because quite frankly, I didn't want to go near them. So it was a quick stop for us enroute, but I feel for the people who come here with families and plan to have a nice vacation week or so. You will be sorely disappointed, especially considering the in season rates.
We stayed for a week in the older section. The new section has larger sites but I wouldn't want to be out in the sun or the heat. TV was fine, internet was intermittent and all the folks at the desk would do was give you the phone number for Tengo. Verizon air card worked fine. The facilities were all at or above average with the exception of the laundry which was cramped with no place to sit. It was clean though. We agree that the office could use a little sharpening of people skills, but the convenience of the location makes it a place that we will return to.
A 55+ park that seems to keep everybody happy. We had a very small site right next to the entry gate that was quite busy with traffic. Noise from street traffic was always there. There is NO cable TV and the internet was almost useless 50% of the time. Dial up would have been faster. The staff was friendly and helpful and there was a long list of activities. Laundry facilities were clean, in very good condition and reasonable. We would try someplace else next time because of the traffic and the internet.
A good stay if you don't want to deal with Las Vegas. All services worked very well and the management (all family) were very helpful. We stored our motor home there for 3 weeks while we flew home for Christmas. They charged us a dollar a day! Very reasonable. This isn't really a kids park. There isn't anything to do. Perhaps 70% of the people there are full time with the usual stuff hanging around outside their homes, but that wasn't a problem. We'd stay again
