The park is quiet. There is a laundry but has one washer and one dryer and is only open during office hours. Office hours are 9:15 to 4:30 Mon-Sat. This is a bare bones campground. We made a reservation for a Sunday (office would be closed) and was told to park in a certain space. When we arrived, someone had taken our spot, hooked up, and then left the motorhome. We called the security person who couldn't help us but did allow us to camp in the one open spot. While we were hooking up, another family drove up and found the same situation. Another camper was in their reserved spot. The security was able to boot the people without a reservation. What's the point of making a reservation without anyone to enforce it?
I completely agree with the post from May 2006. I would give this campground a 10 but there is some road noise. It is very quiet at night, though. The wireless internet was strong and fast. The owners and camp host were very friendly and eager to answer questions about the area. They handed out a welcome package with brochures on the area when we checked in. Our site was roomy but next to the street with the picnic table next to the sidewalk. Some of the other spaces looked close together with slides out but it looked this way in all of the other campgrounds in the area too. The laundry was very clean and moderately priced. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here to visit the nearby gem mine. The road to the campground was very rough! It was gravel and had lots of ruts. There was a big swimming pool which looked clean. There were a lot of permanent campers which were run down and surrounded by junk. The permanents were around the outside loop of the campground, so the other campers had to park in the middle of the loop. All, except maybe one, of the stream sites were occupied with permanents. Not the best choice of campground if you have a big rig. The hookup area, as opposed to tent area, is woodsy. With the trees and having to maneuver our 37ft motorhome, we ended up having about a foot between our slideout and the neighbors. The staff person was nice but we never saw her after checking in and there is no formal office. It was relatively quiet at night. I do not think they take credit cards. We would not stay here again.
We stayed here in a 37ft motorhome and had a 50 amp, full hook-up, back-in site. From my research, this is the only campground in the area with 50amp, sewer, and WiFi. It's not a bad campground and we have stayed in campgrounds all over the USA. The back-in sites seemed to be larger and more private than the pull-thrus near the front of the campground. The WiFi was good and reliable. The pool was a good size and looked clean. It was open when we were there, right after Labor Day weekend. There is a hot tub but the gate to it was locked by 8pm, when we tried to use it. Each site has a firepit with a fold-over cooking grate. The campground is wooded. It is a convenient home base for exploring the area. The office staff was very friendly and gave us a lot of recommendations for places to see and local restaurants in town. Wal-mart and grocery stores were within 10 minutes drive.
This park is close to Savannah and was a good place to stay when exploring the city. It is no frills. Amenities are few and include free wifi, which was up and down at peak periods. The spaces were wide and consisted of gravel or dirt. The owner was very nice.
I thought this was a very nice park. Very nice landscaping at sites. Most sites had some type of greenery between so they felt more private. You get to take the golf cart and pick your site when you arrive. The two pools were decent size. Wifi only worked close to the office because of all the trees. We were there in July and it was hot and the mosquitos were bad in the evening. You can rent a jet ski or a kayak right there on the property. We didn't try the restaurant but it seemed busy. I would definitely stay here again.
The back in spaces are good sized. The camp store is good and has a lot of brochures for the area. The pool is quite small for a park of this sized and there are hardly any chairs around it. The lake sites have a nice view, but the rest of the park has little in the way of landscaping. Not many trees to block a satellite signal. I think all the sites are gravel. Grocery stores are close by. There is a adventure center close by for kids (mini golf, go carts, etc). Free wifi that only works close to the office. I thought this park was over priced.
