Nice location, the base rate for the campsite was $34 but then extra per kid plus per pet brought the actual rate paid to about $52/night. Our site was on the small side but i did see some very nice sites throughout the park. The park definitely caters to the seasonal campers, we counted 75+ seasonal sites. The location is excellent, right next to a very nice lake. The roads in the campground could use some work but were fine when we were there. Might be a bit tougher in wet weather. The campground was very quiet overall, although being the last weekend for camping some of the seasonal folks were having a going away party, still it was not overly obnoxious to us. The owner did seem a bit surly at first but once we had a chance to talk a bit, i think it is just his way. He wasn't rude at all, a bit gruff but he also was very helpful when asked a question and was even helping some folks from another site track down a new tent when they had some issues with theirs. We will definitely camp here again and try it earlier in the season to see how the crowds are. We may even look at going the seasonal route if the park is as nice in July as it was this past weekend.
Great campground with lots to do for families and kids. Very clean sites in beautiful surroundings. We loved this campground. We stayed for a week and each day the staff had so much to do for the kids it was hard for them to choose. Pools are very nice, warm and clean. A bit of a hike from our site to the pool/store/game room area but it was a pleasant walk through the woods. Some of the sites are configured a bit oddly, however we had plenty of room and privacy. Beautiful lake with nice beach and fishing area. We look forward to returning to Danforth Bay in the near future.
Very nice campground that gets better each time we go. We have camped here twice this year: Memorial Day and Labor Day and the park continues to get nicer and nicer. The owners could not be more friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Sites are very large, with new connections and hook-ups. The new owners continue to work hard to rebuild this campground in to a first class facility. Lots of things to do for families, the showers were probably the nicest I have seen at any campground, super clean and roomy. There is still work to be done, however I am sure that by this time next year this will be one of the nicest campgrounds in the northeast!
Incredibly friendly owners who have put a lot of time and money into refurbishing this campground. Still a lot to do, but the owners were very accommodating and interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible. Sites were very large and spread out, plenty of room to spread out. Downsides: the pool was somewhat small and the dirt road made things very dusty. Some of the facilities still need updating although you can see that the new owners are working very hard to get things right. Probably the quietest campground we have ever stayed at. Once 10pm rolled around the only sound you hear are the crickets. We will definitely return to this campground.
This is a tale of two campgrounds. As you enter the campground the sites on the left must be part of the "old" section and are very small, wet and dismal. The sites on the right are for the most part decent, a bit more open and definitely drier. Unfortunately, for us we were in the old section. Our site was so small our awning was actually touching our neighbors, we were perched on a high spot with the rest of our site surrounded by water. Our neighbor behind us was not quite 3 feet away and if they had started a campfire would have burned our camper. The bathrooms are cleaned 2 times a day however they were still a mess and dirty. There were decent activities for the kids and adults. The interior roads in the campground were terrible, very rutted and filled with massive holes. I don't think we will be returning to Prospect Mountain anytime soon.
Decent facilities and great activities. We camped in the safari field and the sites are very close together. Lots of seasonal campers at this campground. They were undergoing some construction at the entrance to the campground, however, it did not really affect things. The adult lounge was very nice; we went up for a couple of drinks on Saturday night. Most of the people we talked to were very friendly as was the staff. We will definitely return to this campground.
The road into the campground is very rough. The owners do attempt to keep it smooth by grading it often however the road is sand based and quickly becomes a washboard. We camped in the safari field. We had sewer, water and electric however the sewer connection was placed in a manner that it ended up above our camper and gravity will not push waste uphill no matter how full the black water tank is!! The sewers were overflowing most of the time we were here, we did get the management to come by and pump the tank out once. The lake is very nice, decent beach and the water is clean. Most of the activities are expensive: mini golf was $4.00 per person which gets expensive after a few days. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, some of the cleanest I have seen in a campground. Overall, I would say the activities for the kids were OK, although the times posted would be indiscriminately changed with no notice which gets frustrating. I don't think we will return to this campground in the near future.
