Beautiful park. Still trying to recover and rebuild from Hurricane Katrina. This was our first time to stay at this park; we usually stay at Fairview in Madisonville, LA. Our reserved spot was not very good. I did get the last reservation available a month ahead. We were so close to the people next to us that when we walked out of our RV their picnic table was outside our door. Not that we're unfriendly, we just didn't know these people. We stayed one night in this spot. The staff helped us get another spot and it was wonderful! We really enjoyed the remainder of our stay. So much to do - -biking, hiking, fishing, trails, there was even a class about woodworking on Easter Sunday! Lake Ponchatrain beach is a bike ride or car ride away, within the park. There is also the Tammany Trace trail bike riders can take to Mandeville, Covington or even Slidell. Wish we would have had more time. We will go back and stay.
A great place to camp for a few days or a long weekend. There is no WiFi, not so great when you have to stay in touch with clients. This is one of our favorite places to get out of town. At Halloween they have trick or treat and RV'ers decorate their rigs. It's fun in the summer too, they have a water park.
We like staying at Fairview Riverside State Park, especially in the section close to the water. Almost all sites are shaded and the staff is very friendly. The only drawback is no sewer hookup; so at check-out time you have to wait in line with everyone else trying to get out.
This was the first time we were able to stay at Cajun RV Park since prior to Hurricane Katrina. While we've always found the staff and owners exceptionally caring, and have always enjoyed our stay; we found the transformation of the park dramatic. Same caring staff, with an even more inviting ambiance. We can't say enough good things. I love that you can now walk straight to the beach and even see the Gulf from the park. We recommend Cajun RV to everyone.
