We are almost speechless about this wonderful KOA. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the restrooms extremely clean and updated, pool and grounds immaculate! The inside rec room had a pool table, ping pong tables, juke box, Wii, TV and nice furniture for eating, playing games are lounging. Outside had tons of fun things to do like giant chess and checkers, horseshoes, ladder golf, tether ball, basketball, etc. We didn't bring our toad to save on gas, but a shuttle is available everyday (but Sunday) for $10 round trip to Music Row. You are next door to Camping World for any emergency items you may need or repairs, and just enough off the highway where it is peaceful. Our site was a little small, but they are due for 2 million in upgrades, including enlarging their RV sites and adding a hot tub in the pool area. We had an AWESOME time and will be back!
This is an AWESOME KOA! From the friendly welcome to the clean salt-water pool, this park was the nicest KOA we have stayed in. The owners were very nice and staff helpful with backing in our 30ft motorhome. The restrooms were extremely clean and updated, fresh gravel lined the roads, our electrical pole was new with lights and every outlet type needed. Our parking pad was level and long enough for our rig and extended into a nice patio with provided rod-iron dining table and chairs. The grounds were well kept and the staff couldn't have been nicer! The owners hosted a Luau where the pool was nicely decorated and they provided roasted pork sandwiches and your family's admission was a covered dish...man, was the food awesome and we met some real nice campers. The owner came around to each table and we couldn't tell them enough how much we admired their campground. This KOA will now be on our list of yearly destinations!
This is a smaller KOA campground. The park was tidy and bathhouse was clean. The sites are nice in size and the back-in sites do have trees that offer shade. The only issues we noticed during our stay were: 1) The pool was crumbling around the edges in several areas leaving small pieces of concrete to fall into the water and get stepped on (not good on bare feet), 2) The playground is OLD and barely had anything for our young son to play on. 3) The road leading to the campground is rough with a lot of pot holes and if you are not careful, you can bottom out your RV and cause some damage. During our stay, the winds got really rough and started causing damage to our site (a back in by the farm field). We requested to be moved into a pull-through site so we could get out of the wind and shelter our camper. At first, we were told "no, we don't let pop-ups on our pull throughs", but we stated unless we could move, we would have to leave and they agreed to move us. Since the park was over 50% empty, I don't see the issue of letting a pop-up on an empty pull-through, especially when you are willing to pay for it. We probably won't be going back because it was nearly 3 hours of a drive to get there and we were kind of disappointed. Plus, the problems we had with our request to be re-located left a little sour taste. Luckily, we were there with several over camp friends and had a good time with them.
We love this little KOA and consider it our "home camp" because it is only 40 minutes from our house, but far enough to feel like you are on vacation. The staff is VERY nice and the park grounds are very tidy. They have recently updated their bath facilities and the stalls are now a little bigger. Our only notes about this campground would be the following: 1) It is located next to an old landfill. Though the breathing air is fine (no odor at all), the water had a very pungent sulfur smell. So make sure to bring your own drinking and cooking water. 2) The bathrooms could be cleaned more often. It seems that the floor is often wet (from the pool and showers) and dirty. They do get cleaned on schedule. Just adding another cleaning when their campground is booked up, (more campers = more use), would do the trick. Great camp to use during Chicago Bears Training Camp, Kankakee State Fair and if you are going to the races. Fair/Race location is just a couple miles away!
