This is a jewel! Right on the Snake River, but you do have to walk across the park so I guess that is why it's not "waterfront". Nice little swimming area. Wonderful camp host. Really nice vendors in the area (we needed satellite repair and refrigerator repair). Well kept grassy areas, level drives and sites all gravel, concrete patio pads with picnic tables. Plenty of parking room for toad. No noise. Good water pressure. Large covered picnic area for group functions. Rate reflects senior rate/Good Sam (regular is $23 or $22 multiple nights). Staying an extra night just because it's so delightful.
Excellent, friendly staff. Gravel drives and sites, shade trees, excellent Wi-Fi, good water pressure. Walking area at the back of the park with ponds (no swimming, etc), but nice area to walk. Level sites. Great location for local sight seeing. Give yourself at least a day to go through Mesa Verde. Hovenweep isn't too far, Durango is 30 miles or so, and plenty of things to do there (narrow gauge railroad to Silverton, etc). Good, quiet location.
Rated an 8 because the spaces are very tight. Office staff very nice, everything was clean, the long term residents had tidy areas around their sites. Dog area was nice deep gravel, easy to clean up. Paved, level roads. Water pressure was good, they are on water restriction because of the drought. Only disappointment was that one bike secured to the back of the toad was stolen in the night, along with a neighbor's. Thieves left the cheap bikes, took the good ones. Police have had trouble with bike thefts here in the past. Perhaps the park would want to invest in some security in the future. A rail line is behind the park and I-15 is on the other side, noise was not a problem for us. Large truck stop is across the street.
We have stayed in the other 2 parks in town, and this is by far the best. In fact, it was one of the best parks we've ever stayed in. Spotless, beautiful club house. Dog walk was terrific. Larger breeds can actually run! It's narrow, but the walk borders one of the boundary walls of park. A bit expensive, but we were there during the snowbird season.
This place is brand new, so everything is fresh. Office personnel were very helpful. Sites were level and packed crushed gravel. There was a local dinner theatre performing in the events hall one of the nights we stayed, it was first rate! It would be a really great place for folks coming to fish - the lake is just over the hill from the park.
