Just finished our first stay at Myrtle Beach State Park. I have to say WOW! We couldn't be more surprised. This was our first stay at any SC State Park, but won't be our last. Everyone we came in contact with were extremely friendly and helpful. The rangers, staff and volunteers run a tight ship, yet make you feel safe and secure. The only negative, and I hesitate to call it a negative, is TV reception. We traveled with our two labs, and were happy with the number of pets we saw in the park. Easy travel to beach and numerous walking paths. Access to restaurants and shopping for anything and everything. We cannot wait to return soon.
The owners will make you feel like family. I cannot explain in this space how friendly the people in Fries, Virgina are. This area is great for canoe / kayaking on the New River, biking, hiking and horseback riding on the New River Trail. The campground is new and a lot of thought was given to the layout. This is THE place to get away from it all. We have already made arrangements to return in September. This would be a great starting point for the viewing the autumn leaves on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
