Oasis RV has closed for good after Hurricane Ike. The site will reopen as a boat dealership according to a telephone conversation I had with the owner.
Well I must agree that Rancheros has a campground atmosphere and is not a typical big rig paved parking lot. Most sites are shaded and separated from your neighbors by small trees. There is a nice walking trail and the place is always clean and quiet. If you ask for help, the staff will direct you to the most level position on your site. I like being far enough out of town to feel like I’m camping in the high, cool and dry NM hills. GPS: 35deg 32.737' N; 105deg 51.889' W
White's City Resort RV Park is a disgrace. The location and the layout seem valid but the park is in terrible condition and the bath houses need to be closed until they are cleaned and repaired. The person at check-in assumed that I wanted to stay for only one night. When we drove around the hotel to the campground, I understood why!
If you’re coming to Libby’s bring your binoculars and a fresh credit card and come before or after the summer season. If you are lucky enough to find one of the 45 oceanfront sites open, don’t expect any discounts here. During our three visits in early October we’ve experienced fresh fall sunshine, a storm that howled for three days and this year warm, sunny summer-like weather. The campground is a grassy parking lot with about 10-feet separation between sites on Lobster Cove, on the Atlantic. I find York Township lovely, long sand beach adjacent to Libby’s just perfect and at the other end of the beach there is the Nubble Light. About 15-min away are the Kittery Outlet Mall, Cap’n Simeon’s Seafood Restaurant and Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier. York Harbor is simply one of my favorite spots to visit. The Best Holiday Trav-L-Park Chattanooga is a well equipped and maintained campsite nearby GA I-75 exit #1. The reception desk personnel are exceptionally helpful and courteous. The entire campground is kept neat but the private showers and restrooms are always clean and even have country music piped-in. You actually see people working around the place. This may not be the most beautiful campground around but everything that’s there works well. You need to prepare yourself for some cooking at the campsite because only the usual array of fast food restaurants is nearby.
Cedar Haven is a quiet, tree-covered spot near the Freeport ME Outlet shops, L.L. Bean retail stores and Wolf Neck State Park. The owner is very personable but the campground is a bit overpriced for its condition and facilities. Good Sam Park Affiliate. Open May 1 to Nov 1 GPS Coordinates: 43o 53.173’ N; 70o 05.356’ W
If you are going to Houston for something in the northern part of town then Central KOA is the place. There is good access to the main freeways (I-45, US-59, Hardy Toll Road and Beltway 8) but the neighborhood itself is light industrial and near enough to the airport to hear the early morning departures. The campsite is family operated by a nice couple that lives on-site and has all the usual amenities. The condition of the campsite seems to depend on whether Work Campers are currently employed or not. I’ve seen it both ways. Without the help routine housekeeping doesn’t get done.
