We have stayed here many times in the last 10 years and we feel that the park is showing its age. The trees need to be trimmed along the entrance road. The lots are not groomed and weeded very well. The cement pads are cracked. There are a lot of full timers here. The park is large so you really don't notice that. The Wi-Fi is not very good. It times out and won't let you back on even though you haven't used up your 2 hours of free time which it allots you each day. For this nightly rate, we've stayed in a lot of other parks that have free Wi-Fi for as long as you want to use it. The cell phone service is also questionable. Our Tracfones could pick up a signal, but the signal wasn't strong enough to complete a call. We've also had that problem with Nextel and Altel, when we used those providers and stayed at this park. Also, the park corporate office has issued a memorandum for this summer that they were not going to accept any membership discounts. That meant that our Camp Club USA which we've used here before was no good and neither was the Good Sam discount which almost all parks give. We are rethinking whether or not we'll stop again.
This is a very nice campground. We always stop here on our way to and from Florida. We had mechanical problems when we arrived last weekend. The manager and his wife, even though she was 9 month pregnant did every thing they could to be of assistance. They was very concerned for us. After being towed back to Montgomery, and a week in a hotel room because of a nightmare experience with the tow truck driver, we are back for the night. If you have a caterpillar engine and need assistance when you're in this area we highly recommend Peterbuilt of Montgomery. They service Caterpillar engines and the service manager and his team are superb! We can't say enough good things about them and all they did to get us back on the road. The rate reflects our Good Sam discount.
The sites here are very tight with trees on one side and a wood deck with a picnic table on the other. The staff was not knowledgeable as to how manuverable a big rig is, within the confines of these sites and roads. We were assigned a pull through site that there was no way a 40 foot motorhome with a car in tow could get into. We had to back-up as best we could and go to the office for a new site. While waiting our turn to get into the new site, staff tried to help another motorhome as when he turned into his site, he hit a cement picnic table which sits in the middle of the narrow road. Another staff person tried to get us to pull between the damaged car and a car parked at another site: there was no way we could make it. She became very impatient and huffy and said, "Okay, fine just sit there and wait!" This park is written up in the Best Parks in America Book: there is NO WAY this is one of the best parks in America! The sites are gravel and reasonably level but that is about the best we can say. The price we paid is with a Good Sam Discount but was too much for what you get.
This is a very nice park. The interior roads have all been newly black topped. The sites are fresh clean gravel. They are nice and wide and the hook ups are easy to work with. There was no problem leveling our unit. The Wi-Fi and cable TV work great. The lady in the office was very friendly and helpful. The rate reflects our Good Sam Discount. It is cash or check only.
We stay here every time we come to this area. It is a nice campground with friendly people and staff. There is a church service on Sunday and lots of activities. The Wi-Fi works pretty well. You do get booted off a lot when lots of people are using it but you can get right back on. There is no garbage pick up so you have to take it to the dumpster at the bottom of the hill. The park is not full, probably due to the high price. With the economy the way it is it seems it would be better to drop the price and fill the park. You do get a Good Sam discount which helps and there are email coupons for buy two get one night free.
The setting surrounding this park is beautiful. However, the prices are, in our opinion, too high. We chose a "grassy site" because we felt the $39 price was a little more reasonable. There are ants all over the grass, and even though we were told the electric (50amp) had just been checked, it was not turned on. We went to the office at 4:00 on a Sat. afternoon and found it closed. Someone did come out of a motor home to help and sent someone to turn the electric on. We feel we should not have had to chase this since we had prepaid reservations for the site, and they we expecting us. The electric should have been checked and the ants should have been sprayed before we arrived. The sites are reasonably level. There is no cable, and there are no bathhouse facilities. There is no pool. More reasons we feel the park is over priced. WI-FI seems to work well. ,
This is a good overnight stop. The sites are gravel and pretty level. It had rained before we arrived so the roads were a little muddy and the grassy area next to the site was soggy. There is an extra $2 charge for the cable TV. There are a lot of cable TV channels. It is reasonably quiet even though it is facing I-70. The WI-FI works well.
The sites are level, and this is a good overnight stop. The cable is limited, and the WI-FI does not work well at all. This is the second time we've stopped here and the WI-FI hasn't worked. If you sit at the picnic table next to the tower it will work...intermittently.
The park is large but there are so many trees it is difficult to navigate the turns in a 40 foot motorhome with a car in tow. There are long pull throughs, most are pretty level how ever some have large washed-out ruts that need attention. The Wi-Fi works well and the cable TV is good.
This is a return visit for us. This is a very large park and the accommodations are great. The owners rent out their lots through the office. All sites are concrete. There is a lot to do in the park and in the area. The rate is daily, but they have a 'buy two nights get one free' which reduces the daily rate significantly. I would have rated this a 10 except for the fact that you have to go to the office to hook on to the Wi-Fi.
