This is a beautiful park among pine trees, very quiet. Large sites, clean and well kept, easy biking. There is a sandy beach within walking distance by the river and you can rent canoes and kayaks nearby. Nice walking trails and pavilions that you can rent for large functions.
This park is known as Belle Chasse and is available for retired and active duty military. It is new, just opened in January, the Wi-Fi will be connected soon. Very nice large cement pads, well maintained area. The new commissary and exchange are very close by and beautiful. The location is about 20 minutes from the French Quarter. Because it is so new, there were many open spots. They assign a spot when you call, you then park and drive to the registration building. We were told that an office will soon be close by.
This park is all gravel, the sites are decent size but not very well kept. Our main complaint is that their web site shows cable furnished at all sites, and after we reserved 2 nights and were parked, we determined that they do not have cable. This disappointed us because there were sports events that we wanted to watch in the evening. They absolutely do not give refunds for any reason. We will not stay here again.
This park is now available to retired military, so we decided to try it out for 3 nights. There are sites along the river with a very nice view, but we noticed an odor of stagnant water, so we went a bit farther down the road and parked out in the fields. They do not assign the spots, you drive around and pick your own. There is a large grassy field with hook ups in different areas. We just happened to get one with 50 amps, the ones along the river are 30 amp, and the charge is $20 for the view. We had a nice view from our site and no odor, for $15. There were only about 40 campers here all spread out in a very large area. It was very quiet and we saw 30 manatees around the boat docks. We will definitely stay here again.
This is a beautiful park with water views. The sites are small and tricky to get into with our 38 foot fifth wheel. They also have an off base campground that we drove past. It has larger sites, easier access, but has no view.
Beautiful park with a lovely pool and lake. They spray with water to keep any dust down plus the grounds are beautiful and very well kept. There are wooden patios on most of the sites. The park is gated. The internet requires an extra charge from an offsite company, no cable. There were several people staying here for the winter, and we will definitely stay here again.
We got the half price senior rate, plus 50 amp. A very nice park with lots of activities. You can make reservations 2 days in advance, which we did not know. We were concerned that there might not be room for us, but traveling in December made a big difference. There were only 12 RV's in the park while we were there. Be prepared for cold showers and lots of mosquitoes. A beautiful park with lots of birds and eagles. We went on a narrated boat trip and saw a crocodile, an alligator and several manatees. We will come here again.
When I called for reservations, I was told that they had WiFi and that we would be able to get 20 channels on our TV just with our standard antenna. As it turned out, we could only get 2 channels, and the internet was not reliable, only lasting about 30 minutes at a time. The sites are all grass with a lot of bird droppings on the picnic tables. And this park is next to a cattle farm. We will not stay here again.
This park is located in a quaint New Orleans neighborhood, which makes it quiet. A good place to ride bicycles across the street along the levee. We were about 12 miles from the French Quarter but they provide free shuttle service. We did not use it because we wanted freedom to return whenever we wanted. There was plenty of parking in the Quarter so we had no problems. The park has 2 streets, and one of them is full of potholes, luckily we were parked on the smooth one. We probably will not go there again.
We love this park, although it is a little pricey for a military park. We paid extra for a water view and Wi-Fi is extra through a separate company, $8 per day. The location is fantastic, across the street from the Naval Air Museum. There is good bicycle riding here and much shade. They accept reservations here, which many military parks do not. We will use this park again.
Our experience here was not good to start. The campsite they put us in had a steep slope to it and we were going to have trouble unhooking our fifth wheel. If we had been able to unhook, we probably would never have been able to hook back up. So we asked to be moved, there was only one site left, it also had a slope but not quite as much. It was only 30 amp, but we made it work. Many of their sites have steep slopes, so be careful. Otherwise, a very pretty park with trees and good roads.
This park has many trees and a pretty lake. It is easy access to the Interstate. It has a lot of traffic noise. We found it to be a bit pricey, with the added charge for cable TV and the 12 percent tax added on.
We loved this park. We paid the extra to have a space next to the beach. It was a quiet time of the year to visit. The location was very convenient to restaurants and bars. The park is very large with many areas to ride our bicycles. You can walk your dogs on the beach, which was very family friendly.
