Wow! This is the best State Park I've ever been too! It's a little far off the highway for just an overnight, but SOOOO worth it! The park is quiet and spacious and the sites are nice. The bathrooms are typical state park bathrooms. Not super clean and nice, but the water was HOT and plentiful! Next time we go through, we will definitely plan on staying a couple of days! Plenty to do: hikes, horse trails, biking, boating, tennis. The list keeps going! Super friendly staff as well.
We live in the UP, but this is one of our favorite parks in the US! The park is right on the lake, so bring a sweater because the evenings can be chilly. The sites are level, the showers and bathrooms are nice, and it's close to town (and the best Pasties in the UP - Muldoons! -sorry grandma!) There are some great ATV trails just across the highway that you can spend hours and hours on. This will continue to be a summer destination for us!
This was a friendly spot to spend a quick night. For us, it wasn't a destination spot. Quiet and Friendly. The wireless was weak. The laundry room was clean and the machines were fast. The shower nozzles were weak and misty. Personally, i feel like I'm back in High School gym class in showers like that! The food in the campground office/cafe was cheap, but I think it might have been all microwaved. Save your money and cook in the RV. We would stay here again as a pass-through point.
It was an easy campground to pull into and was very pretty. The lake was nice and it was very relaxed at the time about our dogs. The sign said it was $15 a night, but the slips said $10. There was some noise from I-40, but it was constant, so became like white noise. The dump station was almost impossible to find. It's on the corner of Country Club and Parkview, GPS location: N 35'31.853' and W 097'58.389' Sorry about the GPS location numbers, still not sure how to format them! I'm also adding it to Google Maps. We will definitely use this as a stopover point in the future.
The owners are super friendly but I don't think they're really into having an RV park. It's cluttered and disorganized, but you can't beat the views! It's an awesome no-fuss, no-frills park if you're looking for a quick overnight. If you have a camper with any type of pop-up or soft siding, find somewhere else as it can get very windy along this stretch of the valley. We were here for a month, visiting a place we used to live. It was serviceable, though the Wi-Fi is spotty at best, it will be upgraded next season as there's finally another option for the area. Our dogs were very welcomed and it's right next to some of the best views and trails in the area. Overall, I don't know that we will stay for an extended period of time at this park again, but I'm not unhappy with our time here.
