This is a bare bones park, but it was great. Mainly because right across the street is Okefenokee Swamp. The campground offer tours, but we were not here when the tour guides were available, which was disappointing but they need time off, too! We went to the swamp and spent the day, it was amazing. The park was perfect for what it is. You couldn't beat the price, but you should definitely go on line and read their rules, they are serious about weeding out the rule breakers, probably because it is such a small place, it is like you are camping in their backyard. So consider the rules you would post if you had 20 or 30 people camping in your yard!

Despite the whole South of the Border Theme, this park was very nice. It didn't offer much, but it was handy to the highway and very clean. I don't think you could spend a week here, but the time we spent (2 nights) was just fine. I think everybody should stop at South of the Border at least once if they can. It gives new meaning to the word Hokey.

We camped here in the winter a couple of years ago, the sites were plowed as close to the electrical boxes as possible, and there was ALOT of snow. We went sight seeing, they are close to a ski resort. We were sorry to hear that the park was sold recently. The owners were very nice and they were doing a great job renovating this park. I hope the new owners do as well. The restrooms were clean and heated.

Owners are a hoot. We had a great time here. We would definitely return. Nice sites, wonderful restrooms. Beautiful lake and a quaint swimming hole. Everything was neat and clean.

Friendly little park, nice people. Nice river for swimming. Mini golf, pedal boats. Very nice sites. I think it is an older park that was closed for a while, the new owners have been working on revitalizing it and are doing a great job. I would definitely go back.

This was not our first stay, and won't be our last. It is a great park, sites are close but comfortable. The most amazing sunsets make the close sites more bearable. The eatery was pretty good, the pool was nice. It is a half way point to the rest of the keys. Try it, you'll like it!

We enjoyed our fall camping there in September of 2005. If was a nice clean park on a beautiful lake. The staff was nice, the rec hall was great, nice fireplace. We would definitely go back, I'd like to try it in the summer.

We stayed here in the off season several times, it was a very nice place. I can imagine in the summer months it must be fantastic.

We recently camped at River Bend Campground and had a great time. The staff is friendly, the park is clean, the pool is very clean and the activities were fun. Even the weekday activities were good. The restrooms could use updating, but they have a new handicap restroom in the works and a new shower in one of the restrooms in the wooded area. I read reviews previously posted and wonder if the negatives were the same park. I drove in with a 38' motorhome, towing a car and had no trouble. The site could have been a bit more level, but we were able to get level with just a little help. I camped here about 8 years ago and I can tell you the park is a work in progress, the current owners are doing a great job, they started by tackling the electrical system and seem to have updated most of the park. The buildings are old but maintained, the only time the restrooms ever looked bad were during high use periods when my fellow campers didn't bother to pick-up after themselves. I saw the cleaning lady so many times in the course of a day, I felt I knew her personally. The messes she had to deal with, she deserves a medal! The only time they closed the pool was when the chlorine levels were low, mostly on the weekends when there were a lot of people in the pool. During the week they hardly closed it at all. I figure they can close it as often as necessary to keep the chlorine levels right, that keeps me safe!! I saw the pool guy every morning and spoke to him often as he cleaned the pool to get it ready to open it. He was always friendly and diligent in keeping that pool clean. As far as the extra charges, there was a train ride for a buck, a moon bounce for a buck and the mining adventure was $11.00 for a two part adventure. My kids got some great specimens and have started a collection. I thought the $11.00 was well worth it, when we took them to a similar place it was nearly twice the price and I had to pay to join them. The craft was free, though they did charge $1 for seconds. The improvements made since I was there last are great, they are not finished, but what they have done so far is impressive. I will definitely return, probably this year.
