This campground is very convenient for Charleston and I guess that is its main advantage. The campground itself is clean, but a bit soulless. The bathrooms were the worst we have seen in the last 3 months of traveling. The Wi-Fi can't cope with the numbers of pads they have. The campground is very attractive in the entrance area (around the owners home). Further back it is chance whether you have a nice green site or gravel only. The worst feature of the campground is the staff. At reception on arrival they were curt and the staff seem to spend their time driving around in golf carts checking that no rules are being broken. Don't expect a smile or a wave. Our experience of the attitude of the staff wasn't unique - our next door neighbors had a much worst experience, but that is their story not ours. The coldness of the staff attitude creates a negative atmosphere where campers are less inclined to care eg what does it matter if you leave mess when you leave? Great location, but don't expect a welcome.
Beautiful location by the lake. Camp host was excellent and very friendly. We played golf in the state park. It was a great course and only $20 a round. We would definitely recommend this site. Very clean bathrooms. No Wi-Fi, but we were advised of a location in Cheraw with good Wi-Fi. Cheraw is an interesting city with a fascinating history.
This is a lovely adults only campground in a great location. The team running the site are really friendly and helpful. The campground is split into 2 halves and we stayed in both. The lower area is for larger than 34 foot motorhome and the upper has a 34 foot maximum. Each is really nice in its own way - the upper area has a very nice intimate feel. The pads are smaller in the upper area but plenty of space for us with a 34 footer. Each pad has tree shade. The views from the whole campsite are great. This is right in the middle of Amish country and young Amish girls come around the campground in their horse and wagon selling home baked goods and root beer. The site is quiet and yet close to Intercourse. We loved it and would definitely go back.
The location is really nice with a lake and a stream. The sites are wooded. Some are spacious, others are cramped. A number of us at the campground found the electricity to be unreliable. We were also not alone is finding the owner abrupt and unhelpful. There are better campgrounds in the area. We planned to stay for a week and left after 1 night.
This is a big campground with multiple areas. We were lucky and were put in a quiet zone - there are family areas which are nicely designed for families but seem to be quite loud. There are plenty of pine trees for cover. We didn't feel comfortable using the laundry as it didn't seem very clean. We wouldn't go back but if you are several families wanting to camp together with safe areas for the kids to play this site would definitely work for you.
Yes, you read the price right - $52!! Is it worth it - no. No cable. It had recently rained when we visited and part of the site was flooded. More of a permanent trailer park. Pull-through was very tight. I would drive past next time.
Peaceful. Close enough to Gatlinburg but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. We had a spacious site by the creek. The park is very well maintained. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Right on the trolley line so you don't need to use your car if you don't want to.
