I'm surprised that the trains are acceptable to so many people! I thought they were really loud, even though we managed to get a site that was not too close. We also had to request a site change, because the first site they gave us was a joke. It didn't even have a place to park. We finally got set up in a decent site, but we really had to fight to get it. We also found the bathrooms to be dirty and the staff to be unhelpful. We love Hershey Park, but we won't camp here again. We would rather drive the couple of hours home than torture ourselves at Highmeadow.
This park is very close to Knoebels, which is the best thing about it. We were not advised that you are not allowed to set up tents until after we had paid for the five days we stayed. The campground literature even shows a picture of a tent. The pool was nice, but there is NO shade available, except for the lifeguard. There are two bathroom facilities. One is a lot nicer than the other one. There are also scheduled activities for the family and the children. We liked the campground, but felt that there were too many "rules" and that families were not as welcome in general. The majority of the guests were elderly. Also, we found that a few of the seasonal guests were a little rude. They allowed their pets to roam freely in our campsite and we had one guy visit us late at night a couple times, without being invited. We won't stay here again because we think there are better campgrounds in the immediate area.
