We camped here a couple of years in a row for their Halloween events. Our kids had a great time! Loved it. They really enjoyed the haunted house (even the 13 year old boys had fun with it), and the trick or treating was great. People went all out with decorations, candy and fun. Very festive. We have not ever stayed here when the pools were open, just the fall weekends. I do think the prices for golf carts are a bit ridiculous, which is why we didn't rent one. I don't like being gouged. Halloween weekends were great though.
We had an excellent site, but it did take some manuevering to get in, but once in, it was big and you can't beat the view. Right on the water, kids fishing from the site. Relaxing, easy drive to the beach. Bathhouses were very clean. My husband grew up coming to this campground and our family enjoyed it just as much!
Scary place. Limited store, run-down appearance. We ended up driving home and not checking in. Pool looked clean and fairly nice, but everything else was horrible looking. Really needs a make-over...badly.
This place was a slum. The most disgusting campground I have ever seen. It was so bad that upon pulling in, looking around, we left and never looked back. Roads had ruts that were 2 feet deep in spots. Narrow, winding dirt roads that would be impossible to navigate with anything other than a very small camper. Playground had serious outdated, dangerous equipment, also broken and cracked Little Tykes equipment that could really hurt a kid. Mini golf was so old and run down, not worth playing.
We recently stayed here for four nights. It was very pet friendly with the holders for plastic bags and disposal placed around the campground. The bathrooms and showers were clean. It is situated along the Susquehana River, although river sites are tight and wouldn't accommodate our 33' travel trailer. We were right across from the river in site L-10, which was a good spot with a view of the river until the place filled up on the weekend. They have other pull-through sites where couples camping together can face each other. The pool area was nice with an adult only pool and a whirlpool in addition to a decent sized family pool. Staff was friendly. They do rent golf carts and are quite strict about the rules with them. They have quite a few family activities such as mini-golf, paddle boats, many various types of bike rentals and bumper boats. You can pay per activity or pay $12 for the weekend and have unlimited access, which is what we did and it was a bargain. The lake is not huge, but is pretty. It is catch and release fishing. The sites over by the lake are near a factory and there is a noise from the factory, but not on Friday or Saturday nights as it is closed (or was the weekend we were there). You can also hear some road noise on that side of the park as well. They had an outdoor movie which my kids thought was neat and your typical crafts, bingo type campground activities. I would have given it a 9 or 10, but I felt the grounds needed some upkeep as far as more gravel on the roads, basic landscaping type things. Our site was a good location, but low and when it rained we had a huge puddle by our car and by the concrete slab at our site. They were very good about coming out with more gravel and fixing it, but I feel that some more outdoor maintenance is needed to raise their rating. Over-all a good park and we would return.
What a fantastic place! I grew up going to the amusement park, but had never camped there. The campground is connected to the amusement park. I would recommend staying in the Canadian section as the sites are larger and not so close together. The sites in the America section are much tighter (like sardines actually) and I don't know if I would've been as happy up there. Canadian sites are at the back of the campground, but still an easy walk to the entrance to the park, but there is also a shuttle bus to take you to the entrance. Very pet friendly. Pets are even allowed in the amusement park! Bath houses and showers were clean considering the amount of people using them, I was pleasantly surprised. The only hook-up is electric. You need to fill your holding tank with water upon arrival. We had never had to do that before and needless to say, I didn't conserve enough and we ran out of water within 24 hours. The only option at that point was to hook up and go get more or fill one of those blue holding tanks on wheels for a refill, but we didn't have one. Very family friendly and safe. A great place. We will return to camp again next year.
