This was our 3rd time camping here, and really loved it. It is among many pine trees, natural dunes, and hardwoods, with each campsite screened for privacy with lots of foliage; It was a quiet campground, with wonderful camp hosts and maintenance staff. They kept the bathhouses (2) clean everyday, and always had hot water for showers. Bathhouses are not air conditioned but ok for what you use them for. We camped here in 30 ft. TT, had plenty of room for slide out, awning, and to park our truck, plus room for one more vehicle. We used the dump station once, and it was working properly. Also, garbage dumpsters were conveniently located at front of campground, near dump station. Would have been nice to have one at back of campground, but realize it would be an inconvenience for the big trucks to maneuver down the campground roads, plus a bit noisy, in wee hours of the morning. Reserving campsite was easy. Always check size of the site, to allow room for your rig, and vehicles. Campground is about 1/4 mile from Gulf/beach. Easy bike ride or walk, if you are able. Beaches were sparsely populated, at this time of year (June) but, nice with pavilions, picnic tables and restrooms, too. It is a remote campground and about 4 miles or so to the front gate, and a little ways to St. George "town area". A great camping experience and will return.
We stayed here mainly because it was close to home, while we tried out our new travel trailer, a 24' Cougar Travel Trailer, with 1 slide. The park was quiet, with nice people, plenty of activities centering around the clubhouse, if you desire. This park was mainly a "snow bird" RV park, but lots of room for others and rally's, with large pull through sites; We stayed in the section where the park models were, but very roomy lot, with full hookups, cable, etc. When we had trouble with our cable hookup, the park "electronic engineer" came immediately and helped us. The front office was very nice, clean, all staff was friendly, and made you feel welcome, as soon as you walked in the door! We will surely stay here again, when in the area. The park is situated right off of CR 484, on a section of pasture land, that lends itself to all level lots! Ours was a grass lot, and fine for the 4 days we planned to be there. Clubhouse was very nice, and one night we joined in the activities - and played BINGO. Plus we met some really nice people, there, that we exchanged names with. Restrooms were large, with showers, etc., located inside of clubhouse; laundry was on opposite side of clubhouse, and nice, as well, although we never used it. The pool was filled with people, too, on one of the warmer days. Conveniences such as grocery stores, shopping are about 8 miles west of them, and also, they are very convenient to I-75, just few miles west of there. Attractions near by were Don Garlits Car Museum, and some horse ranches, in the surrounding areas, that sometimes offer tours. Overall, this was a great park, and we picked this particular one, mainly because of the good reviews we saw on this site! It really is very helpful to know about campgrounds before you decide to spend the night! Highly recommend this one!
We traveled with some friends of ours, us in our motorhome and they in their large fifth wheel. We stayed 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed the Resort and Key West. This was a condo park, and our sites were right on the water, RV parked on gravel, had a concrete pad, with a Tiki hut, with grill and sink, overlooking the beautiful clear waters of the keys. Also provided was a floating dock, right at your site, that you could moor your watercraft or boat, etc. At one end, of park a boat launch was available. Our site was large, with a natural privacy screen, with lots of tropical plants surrounding all sites. They also had a doggie park. This was truly a lovely place, expensive but well worth it for special trips. We will definitely go back.
We made reservations for this campground, not knowing anything about it, for a weekend in June. It is an Encore park, which some Encore's are nice and some are questionable. It is an over 55 resort. The closer to the resort we got, we suddenly got concerned as it was evidently not located in the best area of town. It was enclosed with a high vinyl fence, with gated access, and friendly office staff, in a newly built office. She explained all the paperwork and gave us "ads" for other Encore properties, and gave us directions to our site. As we entered through the gate, my husband remarked that the numbers on the keypad were worn, indicating that the gate code must not get changed too frequently. As we motored to our site, we noticed most of the permanent travel trailers were evidently snowbirds that had already gone north for the summer and also they looked like they had been there since the 50's! No restrictions on upkeep or appearances. The sites were narrow and close together plus the sewer drains were in the middle of the RV pad instead of to the side, which presented a challenge to hookup our sewer hose, plus the utilities plug were on the passenger side, as well. We toured the amenities and they looked clean, but tired. There were no dumpsters or trash containers anywhere to be found, and you had to put out garbage only on Mondays and Thursdays, which means that in a motorhome, you have a bag or so every day, with no where to store. On our 4 day visit, we did put our garbage out on Monday a.m. before we left, which meant every day when we went out, we carried our garbage with us, and deposited it at a shopping center trash container, when we ran across one. Also, Cable TV is not available for short term stays, and if you want an internet connection, you have to sign up with an outside company that charges $5.00 a day, which we decided not to do. The grass was cut, but was covered with weeds and sandspurs, and the uneven asphalt pad, played havoc with our leveling jacks. We decided not to ruin our jacks and leveled instead, with boards that we carry with us. Luckily we had a safe 4 days, but made sure we didn't leave anything outside at night, and locked up everything. It is right across the street from Highland Park RV Park and right beside Highland Woods RV Park, all not in the best conditions. We will look elsewhere on our next trip. This was our first and last visit, at this site. Encore really needs to take care of their properties better.
