A great find just off I-10. Lots of restaurants nearby. Rest rooms and showers very clean. The woman that runs the place is an absolute jewel. Very friendly and became a future friend right away. She shared her Christmas candy with us. The lots are gravel. They work on the place all the time and are trying to make it better. She lives on site in a very nice motorhome. The place is clean and well kept. We will definitely return.
We found this jewel on line and my wife never gets excited about an RV park. She is now planning a family get together at Cajun Palms. They have everything for a family kid friendly get together. All spots are concrete, very nice private secure showers and bathrooms. People are very friendly and Crawfish Town restaurant will shuttle you in a golf cart to their restaurant or deliver food to you. Will definitely be back.
Great campground. The only negative is the Grayline tour bus garage next door. They work all night and can be very noisy. The owner advised that Camper World has purchased the Grayline property and it would be changed over in a few months. Super staff and very neat facility.
This would probably be a great campground for folks who do not use the restroom/showers. The people are great, the food is great and they have wine tasting, coffee bar. Lots of hard working folks trying to make a great camping experience. The problem is that the campground is old and worn. The restrooms are horrible. They are worn and old and in dire need of a great remodel. Hot tub did not work, Wi-Fi did not work. People really worked hard with what they had, but the place needs an overall remodel.
This place was beautiful on a lake with water side camp sites. It would be a solid 10 if they would install AC in the restrooms. Paved streets, paved sites, very clean. When it is 95 degrees outside, it is over 100 degrees in the restrooms. Just cool them down and this is a great park. I will be back.
A super campground. Staff very nice, campground is on a lake and a beautiful one at that. Paved sites and paved streets. Restroom is the only weakness. The were not air conditioned and it was well over 95 degrees, so the restrooms were well over 100. Great pavilion for group dining. Install AC and this place would be a solid 10.
Staff extremely friendly and very accommodating. Unfortunately for me, It rained every day really hard and made the loop we were on a mud drive. Men's restroom was closed for remodeling which is fine by me because a new, clean, air conditioned restroom makes up for many shortcomings. Beach access is great. Of course, the beach is spectacular. The park has two loops one is paved one is dirt or crushed shell. The paved loop also has paved campsites or crushed gravel very nice. The dirt loop has primitive camping mostly. I will go back and stay on the paved loop.
A very nice campground. Facilities are great the people that work there are great. Laundry is huge and clean. Restroom/showers are very clean and modern. Only stayed for one night. Beautiful view and a definite return spot for me.
For a state park this is very nice. Obviously there are budget cuts so very little maintenance goes on. The hookups were a little dated and worn. One of my friends had to call out maintenance to make repairs so his electrical would work. Maintenance was there in a jiffy. The people that work here are really great; whatever you want that is OK with them. The restrooms and showers are very nice and clean. Have stayed here before and plan on going back again. I like the fact also there is a golf course in the park. Very friendly people there.
I stay at this park about right times a year for two weeks or more each stay. The staff is for the most part excellent. I have lots of friends that are permanent residents there and we like to get together for activities outside our campers. The management is a bit strict on noise so we really get rained on during our fun times. The restrooms are always clean and now they have added heaters which make it nice in the winter. The only thing left to do is add AC for those hot Florida summers. This is a must do if they want to get a higher rating. The price is a bit high compared to other parks given the spaces are not paved and the restrooms are very small and not climate controlled. Most parks has large shower/restroom facilities with vanities and are climate controlled for around $20-$30. I will be back but will continue to suggest improvement.
I dearly love this place and will stop every time I get the chance. It is my understanding the restrooms are being remodeled. I sure hope so because they are about done. With all the government budget cuts I am sure this too will get the ax. If they had new restrooms, this place would be a 10. The staff is always friendly which is refreshing for government employees. I did request a specific spot near the restroom and for some reason they would not give it to me. It was not occupied during my stay so I will be asking why that happened. Those wonderful beaches will always keep me coming back even if I have to shower in the ocean.
I have stayed at this park 3 times. Mostly it works, but there are a few things I would have liked that would have made my stay much better. First the negative: On my first stay here, I checked in late and did not receive the bath room code. I could not access the bathroom and showers. Since I don't have a bathroom in my Aliner, this was a problem. The next morning when I tried to access for a shower I couldn't get anyone to let me in without the code. I went down the road without a shower. Next stay, I had the code and it went a lot better. On my recent stay, I requested a space near the restroom and was given a spot on the absolute very back of the park. Bathroom and showers were at the top of the hill and it was raining and storming all night. Again bath and shower access was limited. Being at the bottom of the hill during the storm, I was receiving a flash flood in my space. Fortunately the spaces are paved or I would have been knee deep in mud. Warning: if it is raining I would recommend you pass this place up. I did notice an empty space right on the first row when I checked in, but I imagined that this spot was taken. Imagine my disappointment when it was still empty the next morning. I could have been in that spot very close to the restroom as I requested. I probably won't be back to this park as there is a better stop just a few miles down the road. Now the positive: The folks that work here are very friendly even though they didn't provide me the spot I needed. The rate is good, the showers and bath rooms are neat, clean and well kept. Coffee pot is on in the morning and the lobby area gives a home like atmosphere. Spaces are paved. WiFi is adequate and cable TV is good.
If I had read the reviews prior to stopping I would have passed up this gem. Fortunately I decided to just chance it and was pleasantly surprised. First the negative. I was in space 1 by my request to be near the restroom as I am in an Aliner and have no bathroom. The power hookups are between slot 1 and 2 which means if I had been in slot 2 it would have been perfect but in slot 1 it was on the door side of the camper requiring that I run the electrical and tv cable under the camper. Not a big deal but kinda awkward. Next there are no picnic tables which are important to me as I always eat outside. Wi-Fi was scarce. Now truthfully the RV area is a former asphalt parking lot and the spaces were tight for big rigs but in the winter I liked the asphalt and not having to sweep the grass and dirt out of my unit repeatedly. In the summer this would not work--100 degrees outside and black asphalt. I would pass. I was awakened at 4:36 AM by the trash truck emptying the four trash dumpsters. This should not happen until after 8:00 AM. I would have liked fewer "don't do this and don't do that" signs that were plastered all over the place. Now the positive. The people were very nice and eager to serve my needs. I requested to be near the restroom and she promptly assigned me slot #1. The restroom was right behind my back bumper. Super!! Now the restrooms were some of the best I have ever encountered. Very clean, modern and well kept. Even had flowers in a vase and an inspirational message plaque on the vanity. I would stay here again just for the shower/restrooms alone. Price was right. I ran out of ice and went to the office, they didn't sell ice but they eagerly went to their kitchen and put me a bag of ice together. Super people that work here. I will definitely do an overnight stop here again.
Staff very friendly and fulfilled all my requests. I asked to be placed near the restroom and showers since I am in a travel trailer; they placed me right next door to the facility. Very nice. The showers/restrooms were inside a large multi use modular building. They were very clean and plenty of hot water. Only suggestion is a bench or chair to sit on when drying your feet and some hooks to hang towels, clothing etc. Otherwise an excellent facility. Some people have complained that the showers were "small". They are adequate and not as small as an RV shower. They do the job unless you are very large. Would also suggest more than one shower for the ladies. My wife was not happy about that even though there was no problem accessing the showers when she was wanting to. I guess that is a woman thing :-) Enjoyed our 1 night stay and will be back.
Newly remodeled showers and restrooms. Concrete site was very, very nice. People were super friendly. Beach was about 25 yards from my site. Beach is stunning. I will definitely go back. I have posted pictures on Facebook of the showers and the site. Just one of the best I have ever been at.
Great campground, very friendly people gave me site right by the showers as requested. Fantastic little breakfast/lunch cafe. The two ladies that work there were like family immediately. Food was super duper. The brownie is killer...better be very hungry. Clean showers/restrooms, good Wi-Fi cable TV I will definitely stay again.
This place needs a face lift. The sites look old and run down. Restrooms in main facility were very nice but the ones out in the park are YUK! Old worn and not operational. I would definitely check out one of the other two camp grounds right next door. I won't be going back to this KOA. I asked to be put right next to the showers and each morning I had to walk about 20 spaces to the shower only to find all the sites around the shower building were empty. When I told the employee he apologized and said I could move it I wanted to. Laundry very good. They just need to clean up the camp sites and remodel the bath/showers and this place could be up to the expected KOA standard.
Great RV camp ground. One of the best I have ever stayed in. Super restrooms and showers. Very friendly staff, Passport America and Good Sam discounts as well as many others. A regular stop for me for sure.
A typical state park with sand sites. I arrived at night didn't see a huge hole and stepped in it. I think someone had a fire ring there. I just stayed one night. Bath rooms and showers need updating like most state parks. They were clean and functional but nothing fancy. I would probably try one of the resorts there next time.
This is a regular stop for me I usually go there 5 or 6 times a year. The people are like family. I have made several friends that live there permanently. Great folks. The only thing that keeps this park from a 10 is the tiny restrooms/showers. They are always cleaned 5-6 times a day and really well kept. They just don't have AC in the summer. I prefer the larger showers with vanity and mirrors. This is adequate but would be super if they were larger and climate controlled. I definitely recommend this park.
This is a must camp park. Some of the most beautiful beach you will ever see. Snow white sand and crystal clear water, beautiful ocean sunsets each night. What a wonderful place. Didn't have time to do the tour but will definitely go back.
Simply stated if you are going to stop in Vicksburg this is the campground you want to stay at. Easy on and off the interstate yet far enough away so there is no road noise. Showers/bath were very nice. The only suggestion is be sure you get the access code for after hours. The clerk failed to tell me about the code. Luckily I found someone who would let me in for my morning shower. This is the place to stay!!
This is a forgotten campground in need of upgrading. The sites are sand, many have overgrown, and have not been used for a while. Only 4 campers in the whole park counting me the night I stayed. It used to be a KOA, and apparently was very nice with playground for the kids, swimming pool, and fishing lake. It has seen better days. The lady working there was either new or in a trance. She took over 18 minutes to check me in. There is nothing around the campground i.e. restaurants, shopping etc. You have to go into town to find a restaurant. The traffic on I-95 keeps you awake at night. Truck stop near by; do I have to say more? I will search for another place next time.
This is the second year I have stayed here. They are in walking distance to many of the shows. Be sure to get there before dark or you park at the office for your first night. Overall great experience. I will be back again next year. No need to look around when this spot has all I need. Clean bathrooms and showers. Great park
Rest rooms and showers very nice. I had an overall good experience however I arrived late after they closed. They have designated spots for late arrival. Their marquee stated fall rate $30; also that was what I saw on the web site. I was unaware that the spot I selected was $45 for full hook up. There was nothing in the instructions that stated price variance. This was the only spot with electric that was available. Being in an Aliner, I only needed water and electric. When I checked in the next morning I questioned the lady regarding the rate. She laughed and said sorry you didn't select the $30 spot. I explained to her there were not $30 spots and the instructions did not explain price variance. I asked if I could move or would she adjust the rate since I was going to be there two days. "No, just got to pay the extra". There are two other campgrounds next door. I will try them next.
Traveling in an Aliner pop up, the restroom and shower facilities are very important. This site has large restroom shower facilities that are clean. They need a little updating and maintenance but are good overall. The camp has a lot of Katrina evacuees still living in FEMA trailers. There are quite a few shady characters in the area where they put me. I was flanked on each side by tent campers. One of them was a long term tent camper and his site looks like a trash heap. The site on the other side was occupied by a woman and a dog and it too looked pretty sad. A train track goes right by the campground so the ground shakes when a train goes by. The noise is too much to sleep through. You can walk to the beach as it is just across the road. Be aware, this area was completely destroyed by Katrina but did not make the news like New Orleans. There are a lot of parking lots without buildings. This place is coming back but very slowly because it is not on the news like New Orleans. Very little FEMA money made it here, so praise be to those who are trying to make a comeback on their own. All the businesses and houses are new so in time this place will look great. Not a place to bring kids as this is a casino town. Lots of shady characters around. Saw a female working the street right outside the RV park. Beach is not pristine like Florida beaches.
I travel in an Aliner pop up so most of my review pertains to the shower/restroom facililty. Self contained units may have a different opinion. Wifi excellent, cable tv excellent, space with patio very nice and easy to access i. e. pull through. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Bathrooms and showers leave a lot to be desired. The bath, sink shower combo was very small and outdated. The shower faucets are about to fall out of the wall and leak badly. They need replacing. The floor was not always clean when I went in to use the facility. Each time there were wet, sandy foot prints from the previous user. No vanity not even a shelf. I guess they want you to shower and then do all your other functions in your camper. No AC in showers. There was an electrical heater for winter months. I was there in May. I sure wish they had a big nice shower facility with clean restrooms, this would then be a great site. I will be trying another site on my next trip to Tallahassee.
Let's start by saying NO NEVER STAY HERE. Now let me tell you why. I travel in an Aliner pop up and weigh most of my ratings on the bath/shower facilities however in this case I have to say this was one of the worse camping experiences ever. Specifics. The cable TV wires had all been cut out I assume due to copper theft. The sites have a ditch you have to cross to pull into the site where my unit drugged the ground. While having my coffee in the morning a campers dog decided to come over and bark continuously at me. The dog owner simply yelled and cursed the dog. Now the the bad part. The shower/bath facility had not been cleaned in a very long time. There were huge ants and other bugs all inside the shower. When I turned the hot water on to wash the ants and bugs out, the entire faucet came out of the wall allowing hot water to flood the facility. The commodes were loose from the floor. This place has NO maintenance. The owners apologized but did not offer to refund my $21 for my experience. DO NOT GO HERE!! Very BAD!
Most of my rating of this park has to do with the shower restroom facilities as I travel in an Aliner. Self contained rigs may have a different opinion. This park was one of the best I have ever camped at. The entire grounds are concrete with pull through spaces. The restroom, shower, laundry facility is one of the best I have ever seen at a campground. This is a model of what these facilities should be. Very clean, well maintained and modern. Big mirrors and double vanities. I would suggest more hangers for towels and clothes. The seats in the showers are very small and may pose a problem for larger people. I had no problem myself though. Great facility! I would recommend this location. The staff is very friendly and home folksy.
Staff very friendly. I made a future reservation for the upcoming Crawfish Festival. Rates were good, access to park very good just off the interstate. My review is hopefully useful for the pop up camper world. I base my overall rating mostly on the restroom/showers. Pros: Vanity in bathroom making it easy to get dressed. Multiple shower stalls (2) so access is not an issue. Helpful staff in guiding you to space and backing unit into space. Cons: Restroom/showers were not heated. When I stayed here, the morning temperature was 49 degrees. There is an AC unit in the bath/shower. Close review of it did not indicate it doubled as a heater. In any event it was too cold for a shower in Feb. Road traffic very heavy and noisy early morning. I stayed on a week day so maybe this was people going to work. Hopefully it would be quieter on the weekend. Camp sites are grass/dirt. Would be a mess in the rain. May reconsider my future reservation.
Most of my opinion is based on shower/restroom condition. If you are self contained you may have a different opinion. Great staff, great site, and the showers/bathrooms are perfect!! I counted it, the facilities were cleaned 5 times in one day! The couple that does the cleaning do a fantastic job! The site I stayed in was concrete with a large adjacent area covered in pea gravel. I was with an Aliner group and we all had perfect spots for set up. This is a perfect spot for a pop up camper. I will be back!!!
By far the best campground I every stayed in. If there was a model of how a campground should be, this is it. This campground is great for self contained and pop ups. I use an Aliner pop up and felt like a king. The sites are concrete with outdoor grills. The staff is over the top friendly. Restroom facilities are the perfect model for a campground. Large multiple showers, laundry and clean clean clean. Did I say CLEAN!! Get this: I went and played golf and upon my return I found my outdoor grill had been cleaned of the ash from the previous evening's use. It was like room service. Great security patrol sites are located on a golf course!! Can't get any better in my book.
This review is for the benefit of pop up campers. Self Contained units would probably review this site differently. Most of my opinion/rating is centered around the bath/shower facility. Pros: Very friendly staff and great rate given the location right across the street from the most beautiful beaches in the world. Site was easy to get into. I could have backed in but was able to use another site and do a pull through. Cable TV line up very good included Golf Channel. Lots of activity for the folks who stay long term. Some kind of activity every night. Would stay there again. Double sink vanity, paper towels very clean. Multiple showers (2) and commodes. I will stay here again with big hopes for the showers. Cons: Restroom facilities in dire need of remodel. The staff did keep the restrooms clean however in the shower the walls have rotted out, tile has fell off the wall. Commode stall doors are very old and need replacement. Staff did all they could with what they had to keep it clean. With a bathroom/shower overhaul this place would be an 8 or 9. The sites are sand (you are at the beach) so be sure you have a good broom/vacuum. I had to go to Wal Mart and buy a door mat. Lots of sand in the camper when I left. On the day I checked out, I requested an extension to my checkout time. The staff was too busy to ever address this issue. I requested an answer 3 times over a 3 hour period and never got an answer. The people were very busy getting ready for Spring Break. They were apologetic and offered to allow me to park the camper in the parking lot for a few hours.
