This campground has a lot of promise. Everything is brand new, the roads throughout are all asphalt and the camper pads are all poured concrete with poured concrete patios. Every site has WES with 20/30/50 amp. The sites are all very large and wide so you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbor. They have a very large office/clubhouse building with a big meeting room inside. The meeting room has a few video games, a pool table, and a dart board. I think that would be nice when they have coordinated activities because it is big enough to accommodate maybe 100 people inside comfortably. They also have a heated pool that just opened in August and surprisingly was still open! Of course we didn't have our suits because I would've never dreamed the pool would still be open in October. The pool seemed very small for the size of the campground, and was only 5 feet at the deepest end. They had a pretty large kids play area with several different swings, jungle gyms, etc, and they had a sand volleyball court. The pickup trash at your site every morning and offer firewood for $20 for an ATV load. An ATV load is plenty of wood for 2-3 nights. Here are my ideas for improvement: There were only a handful of sites with any trees at all. The sites around the edges were treed on the outside property line, but because that was north those trees didn't really provide any shade. I wouldn't come here in the heat of summer. The owner needs to plant a lot of trees throughout the grounds. Make the game room more kid-oriented. This is one attraction my kids look forward to when we go camping. This game room has: pool table, dart board, deer hunting game, car racing game, and a stuffed animal crane. The only thing my kids liked was the crane, and after $5 and not winning anything I gave up on it. Addition of a few games oriented towards kids like ping pong, skee ball, or pinball would help a lot. Stock the lake with fish that would help control the algae/seaweed situation. The lake is very narrow and long, and the algae extended several feet from every shore. It was hard for my kids to reel in their line without getting it stuck in the seaweed or covered with algae. I think the lake also contributed to a greater mosquito population. The store was large but wasn't very well stocked, but I attribute this to having just opened recently. They are right down the street from Belterra Casino if you are into gambling. All in all this was a nice campground with great potential. I probably won't go back with the family, though, because it is more oriented to adults than to kids.

We camped here with family. The park is nice and the owners are friendly and keep things under control, even on a busy holiday weekend. Quiet time starts at 11:00PM and it is enforced. Their rates are very reasonable, they have a game room with free ping pong, $0.50 pool, and all of their video games and pinball machines are only a quarter. The pool is nice and clean, although a bit small, but does have a diving board. They had a number of activities including a hay ride, garage sale, bingo, and free canoing on Saturday. All in all this is a really great bargain for a family oriented campground. The only drawbacks are: sites are pretty small, roads and pads are all gravel, and some of the seasonal units are showing their age.

In my 8 years of camping this is the worst campground I have stayed at. As others have stated, the campground is virtually all seasonal with run-down trailers, sheds, fences, etc. The non-seasonal sites are scattered about throughout the grounds, not in a single location. Water went out one night and we were informed by the manager that is a regular occurrence. Our site was roughly 1/3 mile from the pool & lake, so we had to ride bikes. Roads were gravel and in poor repair causing my daughter to wreck her bike 5 times. Golf cart rental was $250 for 5 days. The pools were nice and they provide life guards. They had putt putt and pedal boat rental, but the guy working the booth was far from friendly. Most of the staff were teenagers, weren't very knowledgeable, and didn't seem to care much about our camping experience.

One night stop-over on way home from Hatteras (no reservation, just stopped in for convenience). This is a small campground behind the All State Motel (between the expressway and the motel). Noise level was high because of the expressway. Roads and pads were gravel overgrown with grass. The motel is a very inexpensive motel and being so close to the expressway we were somewhat concerned about our safety. We didn't have any problems with the electric, and we didn't use water or sewer.

This was a one night stop over for us on the way to Hatteras. Campground, was clean, had gravel roads and pads. We were on a pull-through site which was nice as we didn't even have to unhitch. Our site was shaded, which seemed to be the norm - lots of mature trees. We arrived late and found our reservation information taped to the window at the registration booth. We didn't use any of the facilities. Staff was friendly upon checkout.

We stayed here for a week on vacation. On pulling into the park we found a gated entrance with a guard, which was nice. The staff was friendly upon check-in and we stayed at a "premium" site which was the second row from the ocean. Ocean is across the sand dunes but was a short walk. Overall the campground was nice and much more spacious than the others in the area (although still a little small). Campground had concrete roads and pads, and were very level. It wasn't very crowded when we were there, which made it nice. They had a pool and game room, which the kids liked - although we spent most of our time on the beach. Be prepared, it is VERY windy on Hatteras. Average wind speed is 20mph and we had days gusting to 40mph. There are no shade trees and I had to keep my awning in most of the time (even with tie downs).
