The park sits directly on a noisy, busy highway. If you want quiet, shade and a park like setting with a view, this is not the place. In fact there are few trees in the camping area. The sites are very close together. Minor leveling was required. We stayed in early October. The camp host was very friendly and accommodating. While most sites are gravel, grass has grown through and almost completely covered the surface. It appears the park is spending on very basic maintenance, not ongoing improvements and updating. The Lake across the highway is beautiful. The location is convenient to many attractions in the NC western mountains. The area seems to be safe. A burned out old motel sits next to the campground which per the host is scheduled to be removed in the near future. You may wish to call ahead to ask about construction noise and dust during the next few months. In summary this campground is adequate if you only want a place to sleep and are not noise sensitive.
Overnight stay on way south to Florida. About 15 miles off the interstate. Very nice and quiet campground. The newer area in which we stayed has open paved sites with no trees. Last year we stayed in the older area with trees but were told those sites are now being renovated. Pull-through site was easy to access and level.
Very convenient to I-75 and great for an overnight stay between Atlanta and Macon. Park is well maintained. Lots of trees in the camping area. Most back-in sites are easy to access and are large. Baths and showers were clean. Park was quiet with few visitors when we stayed in January. In addition to $29 camping fee there is a $5 park pass fee. We look forward to returning.
Only Airstream brand travel trailers and motorhomes may camp at this privately owned park. The campground is located on a 75 acre property in the Virginia mountains, convenient to I-81 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Campsites are on a ridge line affording beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The property is meticulously maintained. Wi-Fi service was strong. There is a very nice clubhouse with library, kitchen, and laundry facilities. Park host duties are rotated among the stockholders in the property. Hosts and stockholders camping at the park were extremely friendly and helpful. Children are allowed but there are no activities specifically for them. The park is extremely quiet and peaceful. Most visitors seem to enjoy multiple day stays for quiet relaxation or exploring the local area. There is strictly enforce limit of two non aggressive pets. Sites have full hookups but there are no shower facilities. There are many recreation, cultural, entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities in nearby Roanoke, Floyd, Christiansburg, and Blacksburg. Propane can be purchased on site for a reasonable price.
Very nice park, which the owners are diligently working to further improve. Pool, restrooms/showers, and clubhouse are extremely clean and well maintained. Laundromat and restrooms were superb. The sites are close together and trees have not grown large enough to provide shade. Our gravel site was almost level. Propane refill was quick. As the landscaping matures this has potential to be a beautiful park. Owners and staff are friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our stay and are recommending it as a future rally site for our camping club.
We stayed in one of the upper sites. The full hookup sites were large, gravel base, and almost level. Landscaping around sites was well maintained. Wi-Fi service was good for a campground. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bathroom/showers were extremely clean. Our site was shaded and had a good view, with picnic tables and fire pits on each site. Campground is quiet except for an occasional train in the distance. Location is convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Black Mountain, and only minutes from Asheville. We enjoyed our stay and will return when staying in the Asheville area. We recommend as a place to relax or a base for touring the Asheville, NC area.
Sites are in an open field. No privacy. Wi-Fi works well. Sites are reasonably level. Some long term residents in park. Playground equipment for children. Not much to see, do or places to eat in this very rural area. Campground is affiliated with Yogi Bear Jellystone Park. We will likely not stay here again, when passing through the area, because of the long distance from the interstate highways.
Delightful municipal park campground. Full hookups. Dirt sites were not level. Many amenities including beach and lake within easy walk, hiking trails, and picnic areas. Firepits at sites. Camp store was closed. Campground had gate securing it from rest of park. A good place to hold a rally, we were with an Airstream group. We enjoyed our stay and may return.
We overnighted and did not unhook as we were passing through. Pull through site was not level. Full hookups. Site was close to highway, but not extremely noisy. Gravel surface, a concrete site was much more expensive. Sites were fairly close together and vegetation was not thick so not much privacy. We may return someday to explore the area.
Some sites extremely tight and difficult to back into based on angle of approach and lush vegetation. We had a difficult time backing our 28' Airstream into a site designated 35'. Most sites are very private due to vegetation. Sites are dirt. Firepits. Water and electric only. Dump station. Beach is close walk and delightful. Bath house well maintained. Laundry equipment malfunctioned. Very quiet and comfortable setting. Dark at night. We enjoyed our stay and will likely return.
Large campground with many longer term seasonal visitors in large motorhomes and fifth wheels. Vegetation separating sites is not well pruned and can make access to sites difficult. Sites are not level and many covered with leaves as park maintenance does not clear them (we asked). Site surface is dirt/grass/leaves. Full hookups. Wi-Fi service was good. Laundry was clean and equipment in good order. Underbrush harbored mosquitos and other insects.
Nicely landscaped and well maintained campground. Concrete cracking and heaving in some sites. Full hookups, but no Wi-Fi at the sites. Most sites are a good size. Easy access on paved roads. Beautiful white sand beach less than a mile walk from campground. Many local attractions, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby. Hiking trails, shuffleboard, unheated pool, and store on site. Our second year to stay and we enjoyed our visit both times. We stayed 5 nights.
Truly a hidden gem. Our full hookup campsite was on the water with an incredible view. Definitely worth the extra money for a waterfront site. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Sites are very narrow. Adult only park. Only negative is the site surface is sand/crushed shells which easily tracks into the trailer. We stayed two nights and will return next year for a longer stay. Excellent seafood restaurants in the area.
