What a friendly bunch of folks here; we'd be glad to stay here again. Good location to head to either Douglas, or Bisbee. Several 'long term' campers here, and everyone seems to get along really well. There's a little get together in the evenings to get to know one another. Not much in the way of amenities, but the price is right, and the folks are friendly.
Can anyone say 'sardine'? The park filled up fast and we took the space we'd reserved, but we were so crammed in, that when the motorhome next to us put their awning down, it covered our step completely! This is simply a place to stay for the night and move on.
We had reservations here for several nights, and upon arriving, changed our mind. The roads were horrible into the park. We were close to old, long term residents. The whole 'feel' of the place left us with a cold feeling. We left and went to Curt Gowdy park instead. This place needs some serious maintenance.
You can;t beat the price, and the office folks were friendly; gave us a packet of information for the surrounding area. Yes, there is a bit of train noise here, and I've learned to keep a pair of earplugs in my travel kit at all times. I preferred my days here at $15 a night, to the $45+ we spent when we arrived in Albuquerque.
We camped here for several days. We felt the rate was a bit pricey for the campground, though it was clean and kept up. However, don't even think about staying here long term. There is no discount rate for a long term visit; we asked about a monthly fee from April on, and it was $1200! It's simply not worth it, and purely greed on the part of the owners. If you want to stick around, you'll need to go elsewhere. Also, I appreciate reading about a previous review when talking about the lack of snow removal - this was a serious concern of ours too.
