This was a stop-over site for us on the way to and from Florida. It was ideal for quick over-nights. We got in late the first time and they had check-in info waiting for us to make it easy. The pull-thru they gave us was nice and level and we didn't even have to unhook. The second stay gave us a site with a concrete pad. We will likely come back for a longer stay on another trip. There seemed to be plenty to do within the campground. Our site did not have any shade trees (either time), but that didn't matter at the time. Staff was friendly.
We stayed for a week at this campground. The site was fine--not spectacular, with ample shade. We had a pull-thru site at the end of a row. Making the turn to get in was a bit tight, but manageable. We were not warned that to leave the island, you must re-pay the $3 "parking fee" when entering again. Your camp pass is not sufficient for re-entry.
We stayed for a space shuttle launch. Great view of the NASA launch area. Campground was very, very full, then virtually emptied out the next day. Be sure to call ahead if arriving after the office closes--we did and had a disaster, because we had to change sites the next day. They do not have any system for after-hours check-ins and the staff doesn't care in general, which is why I can't rate them higher. Very picky about keeping dogs tied/on leash.
