Most of the sites are pull throughs. This campground provides clean laundry facilities and restrooms. It is close enough to Yellowstone National Park and some beautiful drives to make it a worthwhile place to park while taking in the sites around this area. The best way I would describe this park it that it does a few things and does them well. The campground staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what to see and do in the area.
We enjoyed our stay in this campground. The staff goes out of their way to provide information about the area and the bathrooms are very clean. The campground can accommodate all kinds of camping from tents to large motor homes and is close to a large grocery store. The laundry room has 8 washers at $1.25 for 30 minutes and 10 dryers at $.50 for 45 minutes, which is very reasonable. This is a great place to launch day trips into Yellowstone National Park or a trip over the Beartooth Pass into Montana. We will stay here again.
We spent the summer here parked not too far from the Rio Grande River. This resort has cabins as well as an RV Park. The resort is on both sides of State Highway 149 and has an assortment of activities such as horseback riding, rafting, jeep rentals, volleyball, fishing, and horseshoes. The location has scenic views of the surrounding mountains. We had bears in the campground quite often, so we had to take precautions with garbage, etc. The managers are extremely helpful and the lodge serves good old fashioned down home meals. We will definitely return.
We have stayed here twice and have enjoyed both visits. The workcampers and staff are well organized and friendly. They give you an escort to your site and the sites are kept up nicely. We camped up on the hill in a pull through site and the Wi-Fi seems better up there. We enjoyed the deer that came through the park. We will definitely come back.
We camped here for over 2 months and found the managers/staff to be very accommodating. We had a site that backed right up to the river. We enjoyed looking out and seeing blue heron and deer roaming the island out in the middle of the Guadalupe River. The workcampers were very helpful and the tamales made by the management team were delicious. This is a quiet park with a very relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely return.
In contrast to the previous reviewer, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bentsen Grove Resort. We are staying 2 months this winter and will likely stay 3 months next winter. The various facilities are plentiful and well maintained. We found the office staff extremely friendly and helpful. Regarding children, although the park is listed as a 55+ community, they welcome children and grandchildren for visits. We love it here and plan to come back each winter, but stay longer to enjoy the mild Texas winters.
