This is an update to our posting of last year. Since that time, Foxwoods has made changes to their RV parking area. Firsy, it is smaller now that the gas station and convenience stores have been built. These are actually a plus - since we could walk over and get coffee in the morning and gas up without leaving the grounds. That is the only good thing. The worst part is that they now allow buses in the RV area. This means that you are surrounded by buses running continuously with fumes and noise all day and night. It finally gets quiet at 6 am. We stayed for 2 nights like that and couldn't wait to get out of there. I tried to complain to their transportation department but my call got put thru to voicemail and of course, no one ever called me back. Foxwoods has been our preferred casino spot for over 17 years. But no more. I will not go back. Foxwoods is a joke in that area. What a disappoint with Foxwoods!

We totally enjoyed our stay at Croton Pond. Beautiful views of the Hudson River, great places to walk and lots to do. The hookups were good and our campsite - number 15 - was the most level site we have ever been situated on. So setting up was a breeze. The sites are grassy and a good size. The picnic table provided was brand new. The bathhouse was immaculate with new shower curtains. You could tell they were getting ready for the season. Not having a satellite, we were surprised that we could not get a single TV channel. Hope our reviews are helpful to others.

We were extremely impressed with Bay View Campground. It really lived up to everything we had read about it. I especially liked having someone greet us when we arrived, take down some information, and then send us to the office to check in. The roads are nicely paved and maintained; this place is very well organized. The campsites are spacious and each one has a fire pit and picnic table. The sites have gravel on the ground, which is not only great for drainage if it rains, but a lot cleaner too. We were designated site #7, an end site near the entry to the grounds and easy access to the pool and amenities. The grounds were beautifully kept. Good Wi-Fi, cable TV, etc. As with every campground, we seem to find something that stands out; this one seemed to attract a lot of multi dog owners. Although my husband and I are animal lovers, some owners just need to be more conscious of controlling and quieting their pets. At any rate: we loved this place and would stay again in a heartbeat.

We chose Meadowlark Park for its proximity to Newport Center. From previous reviews, it was hard to tell quite what to expect - but we decided to take a chance. What we found was an immaculately kept combo RV Parking area/mobile home park. When we first entered the grounds, I saw a row of closely parked RVs and thought to myself "oh - this is where they must have the storage parking" - but to my surprise, these were the "camp"sites. All the sites are back in - and we had one of the more difficult ones (#19), having to clear a telephone pole - but once we were settled - we felt comfortable and cozy on our well manicured site. The owners were helpful and friendly; our camping neighbors were friendly and considerate and it was a quiet place. We had water, sewer, electric and pretty decent Wi-Fi. Newport is a fantastic destination; it is gorgeous and there is just so much to do and see. Just down the street, I discovered a beautiful little park with gardens and windmill. If you are looking for a comfortable and clean place to park, spending your days enjoying the sites and beaches of Newport - Meadowlark Park is great; if you are looking for a campground with lots of amenities where you plan to spend your days- this may not be the place you want. They also do not have a website and only accept cash or travelers checks.

We read several positive reviews about this campground, which encouraged us to select it for our latest getaway. Reviews are so helpful. We really enjoyed this park! My husband loved our campsite: spacious, shaded. It was such a hot weekend, yet there was a lovely breeze blowing through the grounds. Their good size pond(s) with clean sandy beach is a nice place to spend the day. The staff was friendly, helpful; facilities clean. We also never saw a campground with so many people driving around in their own (personalized) golf carts. It was like a parade all through the day and evening, and seemed to be a favorite pastime by many of the campers. I'll stick to walking. I would definitely recommend this park for a nice, relaxing weekend or longer.

Many years ago, when the Fine Living Channel existed (I believe an offshoot of the travel channel), they rated the top 10 ten best RV campgrounds in the world. Normandy Farms was on the list. I have to say: it did not disappoint. My husband and I were impressed and both in agreement that there was a lot of thought that went into the layout of this place. We also agreed that the maintenance of this place was comparable to the care we have seen at Disney World. It was, in a word: perfect. This is a place we are already planning to go back to in the fall. The campsites are spacious (we had a corner lot (411) and was very close to a bath house with immaculate showers and toilets. They also had laundry facilities. The recreation building was comfortable and cool to spend a few hours out of the heat. It was nice having an option to purchase food at the snack area. Although we didn't, but it sure was nice to have available and something I definitely would have tried if we were staying longer. I did a lot of walking around the grounds but I will definitely bring my bicycle next time! One of the things that also impressed us was "quiet time." For 400 campsites: it was unbelievably quiet (no rowdy parties). With four pools and lots of activities: this is definitely a premiere campground.

Foxwoods is a great destination spot for an overnight or weekend of dry docking. The resort accommodates RVs of all sizes in a designated parking area, within walking distance of the casinos, although shuttles run 24/7. You will need to check in with security, as most casinos require. Although there is nothing particularly outstanding about their parking area, it is free, the security is good and the casinos offer a lot to do. We've been coming to Foxwoods for over 15 years, always staying at hotels, prior to getting our TT. It is so much nicer not having to rush to get out of the room in the morning; we can sleep in as long as we like now!

This RV parking was enthusiastically recommended by another blogger and was everything they said it was! My husband and I loved it. Granted - this is not a real RV campground - but is a great place to stay if you are looking for a weekend destination. The view from the designated RV lot was spectacular! We were high up and had a delightful breeze and sat outside with our awning extended, reading, eating and just delighting in the view and weather. In the evening we took the convenient shuttle to the casino, had dinner and walked around for several hours. While we relied on only our trailer for its power, the battery and propane were enough for an overnight to make breakfast, lunch; our water tank was full so we had everything we needed.

Shady Acres is actually very close to where we live. We did mid-week camping, just before the kids were out of school, so it was a little less crowded. The staff at Shady Acres were very nice and friendly, but my first impression of the campgrounds was that it should have been called "Sandy Acres" - it was very sandy there and easy to track a lot of it inside your camper. The campsites were very packed together; although again, being a little off season, it didn't affect us. It was very quiet and it seemed as though there were a lot of permanent "residents" living there. I wasn't particularly "wowed" but it was nice. I would imagine during the busy season it would be a lot more crowded and noisy. The price was reasonable, no one bothered us, and we had a nice campsite (#107) with sewer,water,Wi-Fi (although it wasn't very reliable - however - I don't go camping for the Internet). They had a nice clubhouse and the bathroom was clean. We do know people who camp out here seasonally (with younger children) and really love it!

We loved this place! It was immaculate. We were there a little early in the season so it was very quiet. We had a lovely campsite (#69) which was in a shady spot, in the front - we could walk easily to all the amenities. We opted for sewer, which was $5 additional, but with our AAA disc - we received $5 credit back. Our site had a campfire set up, stocked with nice dry wood to use - we had a lovely fire and toasted marshmallows in the evening. While I agree with other reviews that the office staff wouldn't win any Miss Congeniality awards, they were fine. I can't find anything really critical about this campground and would highly recommend.
