Our family of 2 adults and 3 young children camped here for 4 nights. When you get to the park and check in, the campsites are first come first serve, so I recommend getting here early if you would like to get a lake front site. You are able to get a nice lake view from most campsites, but the lake sites are beautiful. Especially convenient if you have a boat, canoe, or kayak. We stayed on site 20 which was a large pull through site, directly across from the playground. Having kids, it was perfect! We were able to ride our bikes to the small swimming area which was nice to get wet and cool off. By the swimming area was another playground, a concession stand, picnic shelters and a putt putt golf course for $2.00 per person. Fishing in Lake Seminole was great too! There are 2 docks to fish from and lots of boats out in the lake with fisherman. The trails were pleasant and easy for our kids to hike. Restrooms were very clean. The cottages at this park looked adorable, all right on the lake as well. We are hoping to go back to this park with my family and they would stay in one of the cottages as we would stay in the campground! Excellent family park!
Our family camped here in a 35 foot motorhome for 4 nights in June 2008. It was a last minute trip for us and we called that morning to see if they had availability. The nice woman who answered said come on over! Once we arrived, she escorted us to our campsite. Full hook ups, including sewer. Wide site with picnic table. No ground fires are allowed; also, no dogs allowed. Plus, they only accepted cash or check, but there was an ATM near by. We loved this campground. Beautiful birds, lemurs, ducks on display. Our kids, ages 7, 5, and 3 had a blast. Every morning they looked forward to going over and talking with the birds. The beach was a short bike ride away. Dairy Queen was across the street and many restaurants and stores within biking distance. We cannot wait to come back to this campground. Many people said that the winter months are very busy. The campground was not even half full while we were here.
We camped here for just three nights with our three young children. There is a huge, shallow pool that is a short bike ride away from the campground. It does gets very busy on the weekend with people visiting the park for the day. However, it is so large and was well monitored by staff to ensure it was not over crowded. There is also an eat-in snack bar and gift shop which has many camping staples if you forgot anything. Our campground was very large and private. We enjoyed use of the fire pit with our nightly campfires. It was a short walk or bike ride to the canoe launch. I highly recommend bringing a canoe or kayak, or renting one to explore the Hillsborough River. There is so much incredible vegetation and wildlife along the banks of the river. We would definitely visit this campground again.
The main draw of this park is the natural springs which you can swim in, scuba dive, go tubing. Our family had a wonderful time here. Our site was very private with huge trees and a lot of shade. We also had a large tent pad which we put the picnic table on. At the time we went, there was a drought, so no ground fires were allowed. The Blue Springs was a short bike ride or walk away from the campground. There is a snack bar and rental store that sells or rents tubes, inflatable boats, snorkles, kayaks. The Springs were very busy with people who come to the park to spend the day, but the springs is so large and spread out, you did not feel crowded. The ranger told us that during the summer, they close it off to the public around 10:00 am because it gets so busy! While we were there we were lucky enough to see two manatees that were swimming around in the springs. The ranger follows them from the boardwalk to make sure people do not touch them or get within 10 feet of them. What an experience to swim with such docile creatures! Overall this campground was very clean and offered many activities for people of all ages. Our 3 young children loved it here. We would definitely stay here again.
