Campground has large sites, nice paved roads, and is very clean. Trees have been mostly cleared so except for a few sites on the outer edge of some loops, there is little shade. All RV sites have full hookups including sewer. There is a little store in the administration building with some basic supplies, gift items, and firewood for $7.50 a bundle. There is a small pool which is closed during the winter months. We were surprised to find that the campground is not connected to the main park, we do not have a tow vehicle so were stuck at the campground with not much to do. The company that ran their canoe/kayak rentals has gone out of business, so that is not currently an option. Won’t be camping here again until we have some transportation to be able to actually enjoy the park.

The park is great, beautiful trails. The campground is rather random in it's layout some of the pull through sites are probably the best. They have paved the roads recently; much better than a couple years ago. The lowest number loop is mostly occupied by tents and tends to have a lot of noise so be aware when booking your site. Also there is one water and electric hookup for each pair of back in sites, so you may find that the hook up is in front of your coach. Many people pull into the site to connect but this puts the fire ring behind you too. Best bet is to have extra hose and power extension in case you're site is on the wrong side. Unfortunately the restaurant closed at the end of October, the sign outside said “closed under current management” so I would assume the Florida Parks Department will be looking for a new tenant to run it.

We go to Fort Wilderness three or four times a year for a long weekend, it is pricey so we usually get a “Full Hookup” site. We went for Christmas this year and had a “Premium” site in the 800 loop. The concrete pads are a lot larger, so maneuvering in and out of the site is a lot easier. This was our first visit after purchasing a motor home, and as others have said it was very tight in the check in line, my mirrors probably came within four inches of the mirrors on the motor home next to me. The campground is always kept clean, sites are blown off and hosed off between every visitor and they periodically scrub the sites down with a buffing machine and power washer. Loops are designated for pets/non-pets, pet loops have two or three litter bag stations. There is a $5.00/night extra charge for pets, this covers any number of pets for the price. We always enjoy all of the decorations put out at Halloween and Christmas by the campers, a great time to visit.
