Best feature: quiet roomy pull-through level sites. For us, this is a great overnight stop, or a few days to see the sights. Just a short trip to Bellingrath Gardens and just 10 miles or so into Mobile. Friendly accommodating helpful owners. Clean neat campground. Great space for walking the dog. Clean restrooms/showers with lots of room and a great water pressure. We will definitely stay again. No amenities such as pool, or groceries. Rustic, definitely not a resort.
This campground was a major disappointment. The sites are narrow, and trash and cigarette butts were everywhere. Permanent campers with trashy sites were interwoven with overnight sites. Poor drainage and mud holes were everywhere. Our site was 30 feet from a busy road with high-speed and noisy traffic. Across that road was a group of rundown apartments where people revved up their cars and played loud boom-boxes late into the night. The worst part was that Trailer Life rated this park as a 9/8.5/8. We would never have stayed in this park, but we had already passed by parks that were lower rated, and there was nothing ahead for many miles.
Quiet convenient shady sites. No amenities, but you are close to town for any needs. Pathway to the rear of the Space and Rocket Center for museum access. Much grass and woods available for dog walking. We love this campground and stay here whenever possible.
We stay here frequently and the exceptional walks are the main reason. There are several ponds on the grounds and the area around them is manicured and clean and lovely. Heavy trees limit Sat TV access, but there are a few available. Its great to shop Camping World and who doesn't like walking through the new RVs on the lot. Downside: summer weekends, the drag strip is right next door and noisy. All said, we love this place and usually try to time our trips to visit it.
Esthetically this is a very nice park. It has the usual KOA class and cleanliness, pool, nature walk, dog playground, children playground and etc. However I have a few comments about some details that have been ignored. Amenities that are commonplace in today's RV parks that cost a lot less. 1. Very few, if any, of the sites are level. And no attempt was made to level them. 2. I saw several sites where tree branches are hanging so low that they scraped the tops of the rigs. A good way to damage everything on the roof. 3. Although trees are of course very attractive and needed when they block the sky you can't get satellite reception and this park for some unknown reason doesn't offer cable TV. Very rare with today's modern RV parks. 4. No on site trash pick up? 5. Wake up KOA...today's modern RV's are large, long and have slide outs. So many of your sites are small, short and packed close together like an RV ghetto.
