A beautiful campsite - one of the best we have stayed in. The location is just fantastic, waking up to that view every morning was wonderful. We booked at the last minute and had to move from the island to base camp so we experienced staying in 2 areas. Didn't get wifi in either though! The island consists of a small number of gravel sites, shade provided by ponderosa pines, ours was level with plenty of space between us and our neighbor. We were lucky enough to get an end site (237 I think) and one one side was just a huge, open grassy space, all neatly mowed. Great view, great location. The base camp is closer to the pool and playground but this seemed like an older area - our site wasn't that level. Would still stay here again though in any area of the campsite. Laundry spotlessly clean. The whole place looks to be well maintained. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that the office staff were not the most friendly or accommodating that we have come across. No local maps or info in the office either. Would love to stay here again!
Gravel site, fairly level and long enough for us to remain hooked up (35' trailer and long bed truck). Office staff very friendly, welcoming and efficient. We were just here overnight and it was convenient. I didn't get a good night sleep due to traffic and also aircraft noise, however it didn't bother my husband at all. Would stay here again overnight for the convenience factor but would not stay any longer .
A bad experience for us from start to finish! Check-in was crazy - rv's were backed into the road as 3 had arrived at once and there was nowhere for them to park inside the camp site. It was totally disorganized. We waited in the 'suicide lane' for 10 mins before we could pull in. I had booked a pull through but we didn't get this and instead we had to squeeze into what looked like the corner of a car park. Didn't have time to query this as rv's were waiting in the street behind us to pull in! The small space next to us was used as an entrance to the tent sites behind us by motorcyclists. I think if you are in a motorhome and are lucky enough to get in the pull through section then you are probably ok. Most of the travel trailers and fifth wheels were in the all gravel car park type area. We were luckier than most in that area as at least we had our vehicle next to us - some had to park it away and did not have any space for a table even between them and the rv next door. Would not stay here again.
Great for an overnight stop but would not want to hang around any longer than that as it is as others have said a bit like a parking lot. Clean and well maintained campground. Gravel site, long enough to stay hooked up with our 35' trailer and long bed truck. Close to the interstate but surprisingly we were not bothered by traffic noise at night. Would definitely use again for an over nighter.
We stayed here because we couldn't get into the Grizzly or KOA sites. There are grass sites, ours was long but not too wide and our awning was almost bumping our neighbor's slide. It is pretty basic, there is nothing to do at the campsite and it is 7 miles from West Yellowstone. There are no fire rings at the rv sites and although they advertise fishing on their website the ponds are completely empty. There is no cable, we couldn't get wifi at our site but you can get it if you are prepared to go into or near the office. The staff very friendly and helpful. It would not be my first choice on next visit to Yellowstone but would stay here if nowhere else available.
Fantastic place. We had a pull along site for our 35' trailer and we had plenty of room. The trees gave us plenty of shade and we actually had a fair bit of privacy too. Loved being able to walk down to the marina, visitors center, store etc and being minutes away from the most amazing view made this one of our favorite campsites to date! It is just great to park in a state park and have full hook up.
Friendly greeting from the staff and guided to our site. Well maintained campsite with landscaped gardens and planted area between campsites. Gravel sites but drained well after heavy rain. Small catch and release pond seems to have plenty of fish in. We stayed here while visiting Hershey and I am pleased we stayed here as it was a pretty, tranquil place to stay. There We drove past the Hershey campsite and the KOA seems far more spacious. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Easy to get to off the I70, yet once you are in the campsite you really wouldn't know how close you are to the interstate. The lady I spoke to when I phoned to make our reservation was very efficient and we were greeted with the same efficiency on arrival. I had informed her we were overnighting and we were able to put our 35' trailer straight into the site and remain hooked up. I wish we had been able to stay longer as this is a lovely location in a valley, surrounded by trees. The site appears well maintained. My only complaint was that despite our 25' cable we were still too short to take advantage of the cable tv we paid $2 extra for. At $31 though, this campsite still represents good value for money in my view.
I had read the previous rave reviews and booked into this campsite for Memorial Day weekend. We were disappointed and feel that it is overrated. We were very close to the trailer next to us, in fact our picnic tables were directly adjoining. I will say that the restrooms and showers were spotlessly clean and there is a nice little playground. We just felt too cramped. Campers like us with young children should be aware that there is a very steep bank down to the lake.
