We haven't been to the beach in close to 15 years so we depended on other reviews when we booked this campground. We were called before we got there to find out what time we thought we may get there-should of been a sign of things to come. The lady manager was rude, abrasive and Nazi-like. She told me to watch her and not my husband when I was backing in because it was HER property and I would do it the way she WANTED it done. The next morning we were grilled about where we were around midnight-there had been something going on around her dock and she was going to get to the bottom of it. She lied to our neighbors who had been brought in on a wrecker about someone coming in for their spot and that they would have to move before Sunday. The poor people had to ask another camper to move their trailer! When we left Monday morning, there was nobody on the site that was supposed to have been occupied. We would not camp here again if it were the last place on the beach! I believe earlier reviewers may have encountered the husband of the woman now running things. It appears his health may be failing and he is unable to manage things now.

My husband and I were desperate to camp, so since Oak Mtn. is within 15 minutes of our house, we decided to try it. We had visited the park earlier to determine if we wanted to camp here and decided only if we were desperate. Boy, were we surprised! The park was much better that we had anticipated. The only reason that I don't rate the park a 10 is because of the state of disrepair the facilities are in. The scenery is beautiful, and there is plenty of outdoor activities, but the sites and roads are in need of attention. If the roads and sites were fixed, it would be a huge 10! It is a shame that a campground so close to a major city is allowed to look like this. We will be going back for quick weekend trips.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Florence Marina. We were encouraged by reviews that had been previously posted and decided to give it a try. The campground lived up to its reputation. Everyone that we encountered were extremely friendly and made us feel like we were part of the community. The only thing that keeps us from giving a perfect 10 is the bathhouse is starting to show its age. It is in need of updating. Several of the urinals in the men's restroom were broken and the metal coverings around the doors were rusting. If you go fishing, you need to we aware of the gators. We saw five gators that were 6-8 feet long. Also, be sure to visit Providence Canyon, it's worth the hike! We are looking forward to visiting again. They recommend that you have reservations before you come. Even though this is in a remote part of Georgia, it has been discovered by people from as far away as Canada that visit on a regular basis.

My husband and I had ridden through the campground (or so we thought) several years ago and decided it was a place that we wouldn't be interested in. However, we recently rode through with some friends and was pleasantly surprised at the back section of the campground that we had missed on our previous visit. We decided we would try to camp for a weekend. We were thrilled with the campground! There are wide open spaces to walk with the dog or ride your bike. The only reason I don't give a 10 is because the sites are poorly laid out and can be difficult to back into. Our site was graveled, but level. Some sites are rather close together. The bath house was clean on our visit and did not have the appearance of being run down. We will be going back for a weekend visit very soon!

This campground has so much potential! It desperately needs some work done to it. Camp sites are not level, connections at some sites are not on the same side, and sites are in need of being repaved. While we were there, we witnessed several employees riding around, basically doing nothing. Obviously, who ever cut the grass couldn't be bothered to cut the grass where the riding mower wouldn't go. Bathrooms were clean and looked to have been recently painted, but are in need of being updated. I wish that I could rate it higher. We enjoyed our time riding bikes and walking. It is just a shame that Alabama can't do better than this at keeping up a state park.

This campground is probably Alabama's best kept secret! It is one of our favorite places to camp. The park is well maintained and the hosts are friendly. There are plenty of places to hike, ride a bike or walk. Fishing can be good if you know where to go! Wildlife is every where you look. We saw rabbits, deer, and yes, even a snake while we were returning to our site one night. That is one word of advice that I would give to anyone who camps here - always take a flashlight with you if you go out at night. Also, make sure you tie your garbage up, or the campground raccoons will visit!

What a wonderful campground! It is the best kept secret around. Our site required no leveling at all, as a matter of fact, I didn't see anyone that needed to do any leveling. The restrooms were cleaned daily and are kept in like new condition. We had a deck on our site where we could sit and look at the water. The only reason I didn't rate the park a "10" is because there is no sewer hook up. Most of the sites have some shade at some point in the day. We can't wait to go back and hope to get a site where we can watch the barges go by!

We love Wind Creek! Our stay was during Spring Break for some school systems. There were a lot of children in the campground, but it never got noisy. They are in the process of doing some upgrades to the park, cutting down trees to make sites larger, adding more sewer sites, and adding 50 amp service. There was a concert Saturday night. The new management is working on improving things! We can't wait to go back!

The campground is great. The sites are level. Some of the sites are too close together. There are not enough showers and laundry facilities when the campground is close to being full. We had the pleasure of having a cold shower during our stay. Noise carries very well in the campground. There are a lot of sites on the water, but beware, in summer they will be in full sun all day. The hosts were extremely friendly. Cell service was hit and miss at best. TV reception was fairly good.

We loved the scenic views at Mt. Cheaha. The scenic overlooks on the way up were worth the trip alone. Mt. Cheaha is such a wonderful place, but the campground fails to live up to the setting. Most of the sites have washed out places in them and leveling a RV can be a nightmare. We tried 3 different sites before we found one that we could almost level on. As we walked around the park, we noticed motorhomes with automatic levelers being supplemented with blocks so that they would level. The bathrooms were in sad shape and in desperate need of updating. We were thankful that we were able to use our bathroom in our rig. The trails are well marked and we enjoyed the hike to Pulpit Rock. I just wish that some effort would be put forth in upgrading the campground. I wish we had read the comment about bringing something to raise our sewer hose!

We have just returned from Burchfield Branch. We really enjoyed our stay with a few exceptions. The campground was completely full this weekend, which meant that there was not enough showers and hot water for everyone. There are only 2 showers for men and 2 showers for women, which when the campground is fully booked is obviously not enough!! We did not have hot showers the last 2 nights that we were there. The scenery is beautiful and the fishing is pretty good. The only thing keeping me from rating this a 10 is the lack of showers or full hook ups. We will return to visit and hopefully have a hot shower!!

This park is located on Mitchell Lake. We camped here hoping to catch fish. The campground was very noisy. We heard boat traffic all night long both nights we were there. The ranger was very nice and friendly. There were no fire rings, grills or tables at the sites.
