Very nice spacious lots. Plenty of room between units. Lot was not completely level but was easy to level camper. Lots of shade trees. All utilities worked great (water, sewer, electric). Utilized hiking trails and beach. Did not have boat for lake but lots of other people did. It was a great time and already have reservations to return.
Not bad campground. Level sites. As with most private campgrounds, sites are on top of each other. All utilities worked great. Staff need training and much better customer service. At check-in, clerk shorted me one day but I corrected her. Made no difference, my vehicle pass was completed to leave a day earlier than I paid for. I did not catch at time and never went back to get corrected. No one tried to kick me out because of the wrong day. Appreciate the night time security. There was a man checking car passes upon entry to campground late at night. I had family get together at Starved Rock State Park or I would not have returned to this campground. I called them in March to make Memorial Day reservations. Campground was not open so I was instructed to leave voice mail and they would call me back. Several days into April, no one ever called. I called again and no sites available for Memorial Day. I vowed at that time that I would never return. This is not one of my favorite campgrounds in IL.
The lots are big but hardly any shade. This is a relative new campground set on the prairie. Trees have been planted and in time will provide shade. We had a problem with water. The faucet leaked very badly and had to be turned off when we were not using it. If left turned on the water flooded the driveway out to the road. Reported the leakage to campground host and he said parts were on order. Campground host was very friendly and the campground was quiet. We used the campground as a stopping point to visit other places and did not explore the park.
This campground is designed for young families. Our children are grown so we just used it for camping. None of the attractions were open during our stay. Our site needed mowing. There was a little bit of gravel, but it had been overtaken by grass and weeds. The staff was somewhat friendly. They have very strict rules. We wanted our daughter and her two children to join us for a Sunday evening cook-out just for a couple of hours, but it would have cost $7 per person just for them to enter the campground. I could understand an admission fee if the attractions were open, but they weren't. I will not return to this campground.
This is a nice RV park with a lake. It is not very big, which makes it better for me. There is easy access to I-57, but no interstate noise in the park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pull through sites are easy to get into. I would stay here again when in the area.
