We just completed our annual "4th of July" stay at this campground and it was good as usual. The campground is well maintained and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Sites are level and roomy -- we had our camper, boat trailer, two tow vehicles and still had room for volleyball net and fire ring. There are many seasonals, but they are well cared for. All guests behaved properly and there was not a "party" atmosphere -- all was quiet. This is a wonderful campground and I would highly recommend it!
This campground is situated within the Allegheny National Forest -- it is absolutely beautiful here. There are quite a few seasonal sites, but they are well maintained and did not detract from the campground. The staff and owners are outstanding. Close proximity to the Kinzua Reservoir -- we brought our boat with a 2nd tow vehicle and our site accommodated everything! We made our reservations already for next year!
Knoebels is a fantastic, family-friendly place -- I would highly recommend visiting and staying here. We stayed at the Lake Glory campground, which is a very big place. It is nestled in the hills and we arrived after dark -- I would recommend arriving during daylight. This area received flooding rains about a month before our arrival and the campground and amusement park recovered very well from the flooding. The only downside to the campground was the bathroom facilities. Otherwise, the amusement park and the campground are highly recommended.
Great campground with a convenient location for DC sights and activities. This is a no frills campground that meets all of the basic needs for sightseeing in the area. Sites are within a reasonable tolerance of being level. Staff was very accommodating. I would highly recommend this campground when sightseeing in the DC area. On a side note, I-95 seems to always have a traffic issue. You should familiarize yourself with the area roadways before visiting.
We just completed a 9 night stay at this campground, which is a truly remarkable place. This campground is the standard against which all other campgrounds should be measured. We took our boat also and used one of the campground slips. Gas dock service has a bit to be desired, but does not detract from the campground as a whole. We would highly recommend Camp Chautauqua.
First the positive comments -- the campground is clean and well maintained. It has many amenities for the entire familiy and is conveniently located. Now the negative comments -- our reservation was not held properly. We reserved a full hookup site and they had us reserved for only water and electric -- its a good thing I printed my reservation confirmation. The owner advised me that he keeps one full hookup site open for such errors. The sites are EXTREMELY close together and I had to run my water and electric under the trailer under the steps in order to hookup. We had an end site with a road on 3 sides -- a lot of noise. Due to the configuration of the site, our neighbor's sewer hookup was 6 feet from our picnic table -- there was no place else to put it. The owners have a fee for everything -- I'd rather they charge a couple extra dollars per night and not fee so much. I wanted to stay about an hour or so passed checkout time and he wanted to charge me a fee and indicated that the site was reserved for that evening -- 4 days earlier he advised me that this same site was kept open in the event of reservation errors. Every inch of this campground had people camping -- on the miniature golf course and there was even a motorhome in one of the roads -- you literally could not have had one additional person on the campground -- way too crowded! If I'm going to have this many people around me, it defeats the purpose of camping -- we'd be better off staying at a hotel in the city. I would not recommend this campground.
What a wonderful place -- this is truly heaven on earth! We stayed for a weekend and took our travel trailer and boat. The staff caters to your every need. I can't say enough good things about this place -- if I could give two thumbs up, I would! I would HIGHLY recommend this campground!
Campground was adequate -- it served our basic needs and requirements. The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing information about local attractions. There was nothing that was either outstanding or deficient about this campground. I wish the site would have been a bit more level.
What a wonderful campground! We stayed here after an unreasonable pet policy at the nearby KOA prevented us from staying there. Everything worked out for the best -- this place was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend this campground.
We had reservations to stay at this campground, however, was not able to stay here because of one of their policies. One reason families choose to travel in a camper is so they can bring their pet along with them. It is not unusual to expect that a family will leave their pet in the air conditioned camper while sightseeing in a particular area. This campground will not allow you leave your pet unattended at any time in your own camper -- they request that you kennel your pet. Why would I kennel my pet at a campground when I wouldn't do it at home while going on vacation. It was in the 90's everyday and my pet would have been far better off in the air conditioned camper than traveling with us or being kenneled. I believe their policy is completely unreasonable and is inconsistent with KOA's pet policy. While I was there, it appeared that the campground was overcrowded and the sites were close together -- not staying there worked out for the best. I would not recommend this campground.
We recently purchased a travel trailer and desired to camp somewhere close to home for a weekend to try the unit out. We chose this campground and what a wonderful experience for our first time out. The campgrounds are very clean and well cared for. The hosts were extremely accommodating. I would concur with a previous review about traffic noise at night, but is not a huge issue. I would highly recommend this campground.
