Park is in major transition with new owners. We camped here before the official April 1 opening date. It appears that many permanent sites had places removed and they are heading more towards RV camping again and not park model summer homes. On site management was very friendly and helpful. The park needs some work but it looks like they are going to make a lot of improvements this year. Due to our off season stay, bathrooms and pool area were closed for us. The sites are huge with lots of room, many with cement patio's. The roads are wide and there are mature trees. Very nice. We plan to stay here again.
The management is very friendly. The office is near entrance gate, but if locked the manager has a motor home near the bath house. There is very easy access to I-75. We arrived about 3:30 and by 6pm they were full. There are some seasonal sites, but they appear in decent shape and people were friendly. Great for an overnight stop while on the road. The WiFi was free and worked very well.
The Management was outstanding and I can not say enough about how friendly and helpful they are, but, with that said, I felt the park itself was unacceptable. Fortunately we stayed in the off season so it was nearly deserted. The 30 amp units are placed on a different side than 50 amps. Our 29' travel trailer barely fit onto the site. The rear was out in the road by about a foot and the front of the truck stuck out into the other road by a foot. If the place was busy, I would have had to unhook for the night and find a different spot to park my vehicle. The sites are very very ( did I say very?) narrow. Between each site there is maybe 6' of grass. If we had a neighbor with a slide out I don't see how we could have put out the awning. If this park was full it would be like sardines in a can. The 50amp side looked a bit better, longer sites, but not much wider. The pool, while closed during our stay had very little area around it. The chain link fence was only about 6' from the edge of the pool, so basically you are either in the water, or leaving. There would not be room for chairs or recliners around the pool. I would not stay here again just because I would be afraid I could not get my unit in or out if it was busy. Probably wonderful for small trailers with no slides.
This park is beautiful, very "old Florida" in its natural setting. If you want fake disneyland, this is not your place. They have upgraded WiFi so it is available on all sites in the campground. 6 hours a day is "free", after that, or for higher speeds it's a very reasonable fee. I had excellent signal during my stay. This is my 3rd year visiting and I book a year ahead. If you want a premimum water site you must reserve way in advance as most people return year after year. I love the park, it's not perfect and the owner is sometimes a bit abrupt, but the beauty of the area and the very friendly campers more than make up for it. The campground has a boatramp so you see many people here for fishing, boating or kayaking. BEAUTIFUL Venice beaches are close by and even has a "Paws" park (dog beach) on the gulf water.
