We first went into Potawatomi Campground which is very tight for a 39" fifth wheel and the cost is $20.00 a night because they have a shower house. The next day we went down the road to the other called Chippewa Campground this is more open and not tight for our size fifth wheel. They do not have a shower house at this one. The bike/walk trail is paved and very nice. Quiet and very nice host. TV reception was good. There are some reservable sites. Most sites are pretty level. Would stop here again when in the area.
Park employees were very nice and friendly. Our site was very nice and we were very comfortable during our stay here at this well kept Elkhart/ Middlebury KOA park. Every time a site was vacated an employee was right there cleaning up the fire pit, picking up anything that was on the ground, making sure for the next camper it was a clean site. They have a very nice playground for the children and a swimming pool. They also have a very well stocked store with just about everything you need and more. We especially liked the fresh homegrown vegetables and bake goods that were offered for sale. We were very pleased that we found this campground and will certainly stay here again next time we are in the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!
Watch for signs to this campground. Roads are all gravel and very dusty. Sites are hard to get into if your RV is 32' or bigger. There are only 10 sites for RV's and the rest are tent camping. Park is mainly seasonal sites. A majority are very messy and cluttered. Electricity did not have enough voltage to run air conditioners. You have to pay $10.00 extra each night for children 16 years or older. Even if they are staying in your RV. Guest have to pay $10.00 and children under 9 are free. There are no pull-thru sites in this park. If you stay more than one night the fee is $30.00 but if you are staying only one night it is $32.00. You cannot bring in your own firewood, you have to purchase theirs for $5.00 a bundle. We will not come back to this park because of the electrical problems.
This is a very nice park. Nice level spaced sites. Pull thrus. Water spickets are fairly spaced. Nice(concrete paved) handicapped sites. Plenty of playgrounds for the the little ones. The bath house has 2 family bath rooms, Regular showers 3+1 handicapped. Hiking trails. Picnic areas and plenty of parking. At dump station there is 2 spaces. They have a nice restrurant, bait shop, ice cream, boat rental includes paddle, pontoon, and rowboat.
All sites and roads were black topped. Well spaced. Nice big playground located by the large bathhouse. There are two other bathhouses. There bathhouses could be a bit cleaner. (This is why I did not give a 10.) They have two hosts. The swimming area is located away from the campground. There is a nice bicycle path. This is a nice campground with views of the lake. We would make the trip again.
This is a very large park. Your sites have small rock gravel and are fairly spaced. The bath house was nice with private showers. They were still building some of them. They had a band playing on Saturday night, which was nice. Also a store with a pretty good variety of items. Friendly workers. A couple of beach/swim areas. Playground for the children. Nice bicycle paths for bike riding. We had a site with full hookups for $24.00 a night but they had other sites w/electric and water for a cheaper price.
We found this campground very easily, just look for the signs. The roads to it are very unlevel. The owners are very friendly (live on site) and took us to our site and showed us all hook ups, wished us a pleasant stay and thanked us for camping with them! When they say super super clean restrooms they are 100%plus. I have never visited a private campground that had such super clean restrooms. It is a well kept park. They have a nice new building where you can meet if you are traveling in a large group. We got a corner site which was fairly nice sized. They do have some sites that are small as in alot of CG's. We paid $22.00 b/c of our Good Sams discount. They also have a nice store and sell cable wire, reasonable priced. You get cable included with your site. They also have a play park for the children. This is a nice quiet park. We were very happy that we stayed here and will do again.
5 miles south of Starved Rock State Park. This is a very tight, close site campground. I felt like I was in a cow pasture! They charge your guest to come in and visit. They cannot tolerate any radios while you are sitting outside, probably due to the fact that everyone is so close. They do have some planned activities and charge for them also. Check out time is noon. We will not visit this park again.
This is located 3 miles and 1 mile east of Hopedale Illinois. It is a family owned campground. All sites are pull-thurs except for tenting areas. Some sites have a concrete patio. There are two good size fishing ponds, two playgrounds, one basketball court, and two bocci ball courts. They have a small store. Washer/dryers and game room. There are a about 4 shelters for those traveling in large groups or clubs. On Saturday nights they have an opry that is free to all campers. They have a house band and numerous guest singers throughout the season. You are very comfortable for the show, seating is in theater seats. It is a terrific show! This is a very nice family campground. Very well kept sites. We try to make it to this campground a couple times during the season from May to Oct.
This is a beautiful park. Nice big spacious sites. Well kept park. Shower house is older but kept up pretty good. Lake has plenty of fishing for everyone. There are two boat ramps inside the campground. Paved roads except for the back part of campground. This is a family oriented campground. No drinking and no misconduct. Patrolled 24 hours. They have a kids movie and scavanger hunt on the weekends free. There is another part of the park that has a very nice swimming beach along with showers and dressing area. Boat rental of paddle boats, canoes, rowboats and sailboats. It is one park that we return to more than a couple times a year. They really are very friendly here in this county park campground and do a very good job keeping it clean!
This could be a beautiful park, if kept better. It needs more gravel in the sites. When it rains your sites will fill with water. There are 3 separate campgrounds. One you can see the river and the other 2 have no river view. They have a couple of host on duty daily. The shower house only consist of 2 showers which is not fesible for that many campers. On busy weekends be prepared to wait in line and it closes at 10:00 am for cleaning. You can see the barges, and boaters if you are by the water and it is a nice view. There is also one campground cabin that you can rent also and it has a view of the river.
