The campground is easy access off Highway 301. Sites are spacious (wide) with concrete pads and grassy area, but a little short (40' with tow vehicle). People are very friendly, and grounds are well maintained. Railroad noise can be heard frequently throughout the day and night. Not much to do in the town of Starke but there is a WalMart and big flea market nearby. We stayed here for a football game in Gainesville.
Easy access off interstate but recommend calling before arrival to ensure specific instructions to avoid a U turn. Fuel stations nearby. Well-maintained grounds, nice pool, free waffle breakfast, free internet (not the fastest but consistent connection). Roads leading to sites are a bit narrow and turns were a bit tight, but doable. Free cable with 30 channels. Reception was quite fuzzy even after several adjustments (but it could have been just our site). Sites are gravel/grass and could probably could use another layer of gravel. Tall pine trees offer right amount of shade.
Easy access off main interstate. Large campground with many options (tents, cabins, motorbikes, etc). Spacious pull through, gravel sites. Campground is nicely landscaped and extremely well maintained. Convenient to Fayetteville. Owners helpful and provide escort to site. Would stay here again.
Unless you read the fine print, you wouldn't know this was a county park! Easy access from major roads. Lots of things to do in the park - 2 golf courses, par 3 course, driving range, horse back riding, hiking/biking trails, etc. The campground itself is well-laid out. The camp hosts are friendly and willing to help in any way they can. The sites are paved and level, full hookups, including cable and a large picnic table. Lots of shade trees. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the wildlife (deer) is abundant. The only disappointment is the internet. Connections can be intermittent, especially if there are lots of RVs. A Harris Teeter grocery is across the main street and is convenient to Winston-Salem, Old Salem and Wake Forest University. Would return here.
Amazing gem of a campground right on Lake Wylie! Campsites are first come first served but for the time of year we were here, it wasn't a problem. Gravel sites, 50 amp, sewer, water and strong Internet (free). Beautiful park with lots of covered areas and tables, huge boat ramp and swim area. Friends who lived here for 20+ years didn't know about it! Helpful rangers and friendly campers. Great experience!
Ocean Lakes is the "Disney" of campgrounds. Everything any family (of any size) could want! Reserving a spot was easy and website provides details about each campsite, including distance to the beach. Express Check In enabled us to drive right to our spot and get set up. Concrete pads or grass spots available. The grounds are well maintained, people are friendly and the scenery is spectacular. Ocean Lakes is south of all the tourist-traps in Myrtle Beach proper, but there are enough activities (shopping, restaurants, bars, water park, goofy golf) close by. It is also convenient to Murrells Inlet and Pawley's Island. The park layout map on OL's website is a little deceiving. There is a large condo complex next door (to the north) with a tiki bar right next to the last row of concrete pads in Lot A. We enjoyed our time here and being so close to the beach.
What a beautiful park! We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute. The park is convenient to beaches and downtown. Office staff helpful during reservation process and while at the park. Three different walking/biking trails, dog park, and, during the season, water park and other activities. Free Wi-Fi with great speed/connection.
This was a midway point, one night stay. The park is well-maintained, but nothing fancy. The entrance is a very tight turn to get into the park. Site manager very helpful and guided us to our spot. Check their web site for coupons.
