Pros: Big pool, laundry facility (open 24 hours) Cons: Pay for WiFi connection. Very small, close sites. This is clearly a Park, not a Campground. Not a place for relaxing at your RV or enjoying your surroundings. But great for base of operations for seeing/doing all things Williamsburg. Shower facilities were limited and under remodel reconstruction which was annoying - not even a hook to hang your towel/clothes on. Probably they'll be done next summer from the lack of activity during the five nights/six days we were there. Essentially an RV parking lot with swatches of grass at each door step. Very level sites on concrete pads no less.
Quiet weekday - noisy Friday night thru Sunday. Local party park for weekenders - but all were friendly and only having fun. Amazing bathroom/shower facilities. I mean really well done. But closed noon - 2pm daily for cleaning (go figure). Owner was driving around the campground constantly on a 4-wheeler which was sort of annoying noise-wise. Sites were nice and shady, lots of pull-thrus, somewhat close together for a campground of this type. Pool was clean but small for the number of users. This campground served us well as being central to the New Market battleground, Luray Caverns (and others) and the Shenandoah National Park.
This was a really nice park, even for one so large. The grounds, sites, facilities were very clean and well maintained. The pool was cleaned twice daily as it was really hot and everyone was using the pool. Owner/mgr very friendly and helpful. The store was large, well stocked with many selections and included an ice cream stand. Also air conditioned. This is one of the best parks we've ever stayed in. Definitely will go back if we find ourselves in Gettysburg area again. Forget the "on site RV repair" - not part of the campground although on campus, but doesn't return a phone call in my 3-day stay.
Restrooms and showers were horrible - dirty, falling apart, plugged up. The lake front facilities were falling apart. The cable TV hookups were not hooked up. Overall this campground appeared to have potential but had not been maintained in several decades other than a coat of paint. Lake front swimming was available only from noon - 5 pm on weekends. 4 pm on weekdays. Skip this place. We were there one night and wouldn't even do that for a stopover again. The only redeeming quality was that the manager was friendly and accommodating - hence the score of a 2 instead of a 1.
