I had work on the north side of Jacksonville and chose to mix business with pleasure so I booked a few nights at Flamingo Lakes. This is a very nice campground. I was escorted to our campsite. I had booked their nicest location, concrete pad, small picnic table and deck overlooking the lake. All of the staff were very nice and helpful. They have bingo two nights a week, karaoke on Friday nights and live music on Saturday nights. They pick up trash every morning. The only negatives were the proximity to Interstate 295 and to the JAX airport. In both cases, the noise was very tolerable. There are full timers here but all sites are well kept. They have a nice little restaurant and a small store, playground and pool, a rec. center, and in the summer, lake recreation. Again, the staff makes this resort what it is. We would stay here again.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon after an 8 1/2 hour drive. One of the owners offered great assistance at backing into site 8. She is a pro at this! Take her up on the offer to help. After setting up our 5th wheel, we walked up to the office to settle up our bill. The owner spent a lot of time with us inquiring about our interests in the area and then drew out a map, noting areas that she thought we would enjoy. Let me tell you...if she suggests it, go! Her tips on Helen and the other towns in the area were dead on. The campground is small and wonderful. Our site was close to the road but we had no problem with road noise at night. We built campfires every evening and enjoyed walking across the street to "Aint B's" for breakfast, open Thursday through Sunday. Good Wi-Fi. Excellent water pressure, cable TV, 50 amp hookup, level pads, all in all, a great campground. If there is any negative at all, there is limited phone signal with any carrier other than Verizon. We had to walk up the hill to get a signal. The owner's husband was a great help as well, bringing us firewood and answering any questions we had about local roads, etc. One of the best all 'round sites that we've been to.

We spend two nights here for Easter weekend. The staff was just about the friendliest that we have ever encountered. The park roads were easy to travel with our 33' trailer. The sites are first come, first serve but we had no problem finding one. There are a few pull through's. Most are back in but are very roomy with easy access for backing. Some sites have a view of the river but these were of course taken. This is a beautiful park. Lot's of pines and some oaks. Level, spacious sites. They allow campfires but want you to buy their wood rather than bring in your own (pest concerns). I witnessed a number of campers foraging in the woods and gathering there own firewood. Lots of nature trails and picnic pavilions. They also had a number of cabins that looked very nice. Lots of sand gnats but hey...it's South Georgia. We keep Deep Woods Off in our camper and for this weekend, we used it! I also used a Thermacell and it helped create a barrier. We couldn't have gone outdoors without them. I had a 3G sprint signal for my wireless and 2 bars on my sprint phone so communication was doable. No propane available onsite but there is a private RV park within site of the entrance to Crooked River and they filled my tank while I waited. The only reason I didn't give a "10" rating was that they don't have sewer hook ups. They do have a nice dump station on the way out. We will definitely stay here again.

This was our third stay at this park. Very well maintained, friendly staff and a good location with several restaurants within walking distance. The campground backs up to a creek that runs off of the intracoastal waterway and has a small boat ramp that would be very adequate for a flats boat, kayak, canoe, etc. LP gas refills onsite. Many of the sites have concrete pads, ours did not. We had pretty hard packed sand which wasn't a problem. This is a pretty open RV park so you don't have much privacy in between individual sites. They don't allow open campfires. A nice playground and a very nice pool. The office has a roomy card/game room and when we were there, several people were taking advantage of it playing scrabble, bridge, etc. The location is in close proximity to the St. Johns County pier which hosts an annual "Beach Bash" for New Years Eve. This event is very well done and Ocean Grove is a great base for attending this event. Several of our neighbors were there for this same reason. We will stay here again.

North Beach is our favorite campground to date. The staff is friendly, the sites is well laid out and numbered. Most are wooded with good privacy and are good sized. Some sites are pull through and some are back in but there's plenty of room to maneuver. The price we paid represents a site right on the Intracoastal Waterway. We were 50 feet from their fishing dock. Next door is Aunt Kate's restaurant with a walk-through path. Also next door is a bait shop. Beyond that is a county dock and boat ramp. Across the street is the ocean and The Reef restaurant. The on-site pool was good sized and clean. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. The only downside that we have found is that the sites are all hard packed sand. You definitely need to put out a mat to keep the sand out of your RV.

This was our second stay at Red Gate Campground. We chose to stay in the few shaded sites that they have available. These are set apart from the majority of their sites. This is a family owned campground and all of the staff that we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. We had a nice view of an open pasture complete with horses. Also saw deer around sunset. The site was grassy and level. The water pressure was fine. They were just completing the construction of additional sites. Wi-Fi was weak. No cable tV and very limited channels available via antenna. The pool was closed but they hope to bring it up to new codes or replace it by next year. (The additional sites were needed to help finance the pool upgrades.) River Street in Savannah is less than 10 minutes away. We will definitely stay here again.
