Just a little south of Satus Pass and above Goldendale, set in Ponderosa pines, although about half the sites are out in the open and sunny. Greek monastery less than a mile downhill has a greek bakery with great baklava and other traditional Greek pastries. Goldendale Observatory is closed Monday and Tuesday but has 8pm to midnight programs all other nights. Lots of gray squirrels and Stellar jays. Very quiet although a little road noise at time from trucks climbing toward the pass.
Very pretty location right on the Cle Elum River with a few sites (we had one) that front the river. Trails run along the river in both directions. Sites are gravel among pine and cottonwood trees (the latter seem to do most of the whispering). Showers were hot, restrooms were clean. They have a nice rec center for group functions. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. Town of Cle Elum within easy walking or cycling distance. "The Mines Trail" from Cle Elum to Roslyn and Ronald leaves from downtown. Ridable on normal (no-suspension) bikes or walkable (4 miles to Ronald). RV store immediately adjacent.
Pretty setting up against the hills SE of Ellensberg within easy walking or biking distance of the Yakima River, popular with river floaters and fishermen. The management offers shuttle rides for floaters. They also cater to people hauling horses. As their website says, they are also a working ranch. They have corrals for horses and a clubhouse for gatherings and functions. There is still no shower or restroom at the site, although there was one very clean porta-potty. Power outlets are duals so one party has to face the opposite direction of their neighbor. It's prime benefit is that it is in a very peaceful, quiet and picturesque location.
