Overall this is now one of our top parks in the southeast. There are many great trails, 2 lakes, Jon boats, paddle boats, mini golf, several playgrounds, and a small ball field. Campsites are spread out and most are relatively private. There are 6 bath houses for the campground that are old but clean. Sites 1-98 are gravel and are on a gravel road. Sites 99-140 are paved and mostly level, though some are quite small. The park staff are wonderful and are very willing to answer any questions or help in any way, especially the ladies in the office. We will definitely stay here again. Camping rate is $15 per night, but we got the winter 2011 special for 30% off.

Wonderful first-time experience at this park. It is an older park, but well kept, right on the beach. Park personnel are very friendly and helpful. Rangers were very visible each day/night. Bath houses are cleaned daily. Sites vary in size and most are well spaced. They are not specifically laid out, which allows you to adjust your camper to the site. We had a large site so there were no issues for our 39' fifth wheel. Many of the sites are tight for large campers. Maneuvering into many of the sites can be tough. Also, there are a few tight turns in the park roads. One camper came in late at night, turned too tight and wiped out the side of his camper, and had to get the park personnel to pull the tree off with a backhoe. I would not advise arriving after dark unless in a small camper/tent or very familiar with the park/site. Overall, this was a great park. We have already made plans to return.

This was a very enjoyable park. The campground itself needs updating; the 30amp breaker kept tripping under a moderate load (no A/C used). The camping area is very clean and well maintained, and the bathrooms/showers, though old, were spotless. Rangers are very visible, friendly, and the folks at the office are very knowledgeable and helpful. The rest of the park is great, especially the hiking trails that are well marked and offer tremendous views. Also, park offered 35% camping discount for February!
