We stayed here for a month while working in nearby Mount Rainier National Park. The new owners were still in the process of completing some of the amenities but we didn't see much progress in the time we were there. The bathrooms lacked mirrors, hand soap and hand dryers and there were no shower curtains. We would like to have stayed elsewhere but there was a real lack of RV parks.
We have camped here twice in the last two years while working in the area and visiting with relatives. The location was the most convenient for our purposes. Packwood has a huge flea market on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. We had to change sites when we were there over Labor Day 2008. This is an older RV park with large shade trees. The facilities are adequate but not real well maintained. Our site had a good view of Mount Rainier and lots of elk right in town.
We have stayed here nearly every year for the last 11 years. We have been treated exceptionally well by the management. We have had great views of the river and mountains and have seen moose, antelope, bighorns, elk, deer, ospreys and eagles from our site. We will continue to stay here as often as we can. The RV park is very well kept and fits in with the historical town of Gardiner.
