This site is an older park with Very tight spaces. The first night we didn't have anyone on either side of us but our 2nd night stay we had a 5th wheel park in the space adjacent us. If we had a slide out on that side of our RV, they wouldn't have been able to open their slide outs. Once they got set up we couldn't open our awning. We could barely get our back door open. Would Not stay at this park again.
The road to this park is AWEFUL if you are pulling a trailer of any size. There was a posted blue CAMPING sign at the first turn but then nothing to help you find the park. We missed the first turn and called the park. She had us take the back road. AWEFUL, AWEFUL, AWEFUL AND SCARY. I would never take it again. We finally arrived at the park and the owner had us park at a back-in site but had us park like we were a pull thru. Site was grass and very mushy due to heavy rain. We were very apprehensive but agreed to pull onto the grassy area. We stayed 2 days and took us 5 attempts to get out due to almost getting stuck. The road out of the park is very steep and narrow also. We will NEVER stay at this park again.
Very nice location right on the Illinois River. Staff are very helpful and friendly. This rate is a Passport America rate. Very quiet and family friendly. Pet friendly. Sites are gravel and roads are dirt but adequate. Took a little more leveling than normal but had full hookups (electric, water, sewer). Also had Wi-Fi though a little slow. We were unable to get any signal on our satellite dish probably because of lots of shade trees. We were able to get a number of channels with just our antenna. I have AT&T phone service and it worked fine here. Didn't use the showers so can't comment on that. Would certainly stay here again.
We stayed here 2 months mid January to mid March, 2014. This is a terrific park and the only reason I am rating an 8 instead of a 9 is because you park on grass and the roads are dirt. Otherwise, I would have given it a 9. The other reason is because you are 18 miles to the closest grocery store. I just planned the menu for the week and we shopped once a week. Spaces are flat and it was very easy to level your unit. The place has a miniature golf course but they were putting down new outdoor carpet so we didn't play the course. 3 small lakes are on the property and a couple of 'local' small gators and turtles call this place home. Laundry has 4 washers - 2 cost $1.50 and 2 cost $1.75. Not sure why they don't have all 4 the same cost. Dryers are the nice type that you can just feed with quarters until your clothes are dry. Cost is $0.25 per 8 minutes. They have a pool table, dart board 'man cave'. Also have a nice size rec room with kitchen area. Free library of VHS videos, books and games. You can request a space under trees with shade or be in the sun. Very large cyclone fenced dog park. Concrete patio with picnic table. Plenty of parking. Small store at the office with milk, beer, candy, ice cream, personal items, and a few RV repair items. Lots of places to ride your bikes. 2 shuffleboard courts, 2 Patagne (botche ball) courts, horseshoe pits, and swimming pool.
Spent 3 nights here on the Passport America rate. Park is divided into East and West and they have a separate WiFi for each side. It worked and is fairly fast. They have pool and hot tub but didn't use either. Staff very attentive and friendly. They escorted my husband to the site and got him in the site before I finished checking in. Store was insight. Located only about 1/4 mile from I-75 but very quiet. Nice dark walk area. Had fire ring. Picnic table was set on nice concrete slab. Site was very level and easy to set up. Spaces are nice and large. They had horseshoe pits that we used. Very nice park and we would certainly stay here again.
We originally paid for 7 nights, but left after 4. The spaces were so tight we couldn't even open our awning. Lots of shade and it was a pretty quiet park considering we were only a mile from I-40. We had a very difficult time getting OUT of the park because of the way they have angled their roads and the position of the trees. Took us 3 tries to get around 1 corner because it was so tight. They say they have Wi-Fi, but it didn't really work the first 2 days we were there. It finally started working on day 3 and 4, but only sporadically. I usually drove a mile down the road to a McDonalds to get the Internet. I was able to use my cellphone inside the park and we did manage to get a satellite TV signal. Didn't use bathrooms or laundry so can't comment on that.
We spent a month at the campground. New owners are working hard to improve the property. Pros: Very friendly and helpful, music park on site, restaurant on site, electric, water and sewer all included in our monthly charge. Also free Wi-Fi Lots of grass, shade trees, and a fire pit at the site. We use AT&T and had good reception here. Cons: No laundry onsite but they do have bathrooms and showers. We didn't use them so can't comment on them. Closest laundry is in Dixon which is 7 miles away. Sites aren't totally level and are on grass. Closest Walmart is in Saint Roberts which is about 20 miles.
