Excellent park. Ranger guided hiking at dusk for all ages. My young daughters really enjoyed this park even though we were there during a burn ban and severe drought. Great hiking, biking, swimming and overall activities making for a great workout. Very professional, helpful Park Rangers, office personnel, and field representatives. All sites are back ins with table, shade, and fire ring.
This park is located in central San Antonio and is perfect for day trips to "The Riverwalk/ Alamo/ downtown area". I noticed several groups of campers taking the bus for approx $2 roundtrip. The bus stop is literally 100 yards from the front gate. Plus, park is easy access to I-35 and I-10. Great team at office, field, etc. All showers, restrooms, pool, playground, sites all clean. Lots of shade and space, picnic table, grill, cable, sewer. Great time for all. Will come again.
Excellent state park, with great staff, and an awesome gulf view. We camped on the west bay front #25-#45 RV sites section. Bay front allows you to pull-in, back-in, jack knife-in to maximize your view of gulf or picnic area. Just be careful not to get boxed-in. Lots of fisherman w/ trucks, trailers and boats close to bay front sites. Wooded area for RV and tent camping is much quieter. Lots of mosquitoes in grass area. We drove to Rockport Beach about 10 miles south for swimming.
Beautiful entrance to park down a farm road about 3 miles from I-10. Clean campsites are all loop asphalt with concrete pad picnic table, lantern post, and fire ring. Camp hosts very helpful and visible every few hours. Wood and ice for sale. Several hiking and bike trails. We were here in early February with 45-55 degree weather at night and cold rain. Yes, will camp here again. Great experience.
We simply camped for the day setting up trailer in Turkey Site. Great area to get away for the day and hang out with family. Lots of hiking, bicycle riding, reading, and ball sports. We are looking forward to spending a few nights here. Wide sites, picnic table on cement, and plenty of room between campers. Although river is low, there are great views of rock back drop along the river.
Very friendly, accommodating team/ staff from the point of arrival to departure. My daughters were not quite ready to leave and we asked for late check out and were very flexible with our request. Their sincere friendliness and attitude is very contagious. Everything is clean, safe, organized, and child friendly. Near downtown, bus stop at entrance of park, easy to I-10 and I-35. Second time here and will visit again.
Nice!...Great staff on site from phone reservation to escort to site to ladies behind the store counter. Clean sparkling pools for kids, hay ride, movie night. Movie night is geared for adults and children, not just a plain rated G movie. So its nice to sit there in the theater with your kids. My back in site had plenty of shade, with picnic table..just an excellent time for us and the kids.
Great campground for kids and adults. Lots of room between sites, yet close enough to mingle with the neighbors. Great trails, lake for jumping off pier, warm spring for slow/ short tubing. Hosts and park managers friendly and visible every few hours. Take your canoes, kayaks, bikes, hiking gear. Lots of shade, paved sites, and super clean. Will do it again...we were pleasantly surprised.
Similar problems as others on breakers. Just could not keep our AC on and it was at least 110 degrees. Playground for kids was OK. More than likely will not come back here. About 15 miles from Interstate plus another 3 miles down to campsite. Stayed in Hackberry area with limited shade.
Great pull throughs, restrooms, showers. We were on our way from Santa Fe down to Interstate 10. Only wished I had an additional day to spare. Pools and children's playground and overall campground looked great...would come back if I was in the area.
Great playground and pool for the kids. We were just trying to get to Santa Fe for the night and move on down towards TX. Campsites are really dusty with no cement for picnic table or walking area. Campground not inviting to want to stay additional night. Staff and other campers very friendly. Great mexican food restaurant within a couple of miles. I would not stay here again.
Absolutely a 10. This is a great location with easy access to Denver and back down to Colorado Springs. Yes, there is some highway noise and some train noise and I was at the very front facing railroad and interstate and had absolutely no trouble sleeping. My girls 7 and 4 had the best time with Yogi showing up at our campsite for several minutes for my 4 yr olds birthday breakfast. All office staff, field reps, campers had a smiles from ear to ear. Will do it again with my 35ft Jayco travel trailer. A+ pool, laundry, location, friendly Yogi team. My wife and kids are looking forward for a longer stay.
My kids thoroughly enjoyed the pools, movie nights, hay rides, balloon bounce. Rock pad sites are not level and may need some repacking soon. It is most noticeable if you are pulling in with a 30ft and above trailer. Staff is a little rough around the edges, but all in all we enjoyed our weekend. County was under a fire ban and we showed up without a bbq pit with lid. Office was kind enough to loan us one for the weekend.
Rate was a little high with 4 adults. Restrooms, showers, pool, all in great order. Camp was a little empty that weekend but had great neighbors, and staff was visible and willing to help at any opportunity. Some asphalt pads, but most were rock pads which may be uncomfortable. Close to the Pier, and within driving distance of public access beaches.
Rate was with a 20% discount coupon with a reservation on line with 4 adults and kids free over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The concrete pads and asphalt streets were level. No Interstate 10 noise as some claim. Some shade and great stream for fishing. My 6 year old daughter caught several fish. Grade A service, location, facilities. We will be back for July 4th holiday weekend.
Enjoyed all the neighbors and staff. Park has clean facilities and access to Interstate 10 and 35. We were told it would be in the bad side of the city, but did not have any issues much less thought about it once we set up. We were here for 5 nights and my daughters (6 and 3 years of age) were betting on a 6th. Great pool, level rock pads, some shade.
