This RV park had an exercise room in a separate building which was nice to be able to stretch out or exercise in an enclosed area. Nice park, good spacing, great location if you do not want to be in the middle of it all in midtown Ruidoso. Close to the famous racetrack and casino. Inconvenience would be no change machine for laundry and no doggie bags (and I'm not referring to the ones for leftover food). Dog walk is just a path along the front side of the RV park above the main hiway 70. Would come here again because you can always just walk your dog around the very sizeable RV park. Just bring your own bag (byob)!
Hosts were very friendly and offered a pancake breakfast, that was more like homemade than some others offered at other KOA Parks. Sites had shade and some privacy. Just about across the road from a wildlife refuge or viewing area. In August we saw several hawks, but not too many large mammals that you might see at other times in the year. Would stay here again.
Loved this RV park. Don't really recall price, so rate is approximate. Spaces are great, many with shade and very well spaced. View is fantastic. There are two lakes: one for boats with wakes, one for quieter recreation. Did not do any fishing, but lots of walking space with or without your dog. Really nice. Would like to come back again, but looked like weekend spaces were booked well in advance, so plan accordingly.
Several of the sites required parking parallel to and against a wall with the trees above the wall (not at the level of the RV). So, there was the wall on one side and the road on the other side. No place to really walk a dog since there was private property and residence immediately adjacent to the KOA. Hosts were kind and helpful. Lots of hummingbirds and of course very close to Estes Park downtown, and the mountains for hiking. So very glad there is a KOA here.
This park is small. Host was very friendly and honest in the web site description of the RV park when they said if you like trains you will like this park. We could not sleep because the trains run frequently very close to the park, but if you are a heavy sleeper or are used to train noise, this would be a nice place. This is one of few RV parks in the area. We had no other issues or complaints.
This is a very large RV park, but each RV avenue is clearly marked so you can find your site again. Space between sites was ok, but then we just had a small travel trailer. Looking around the spacing seemed ok, though. Great for children due to the horseback rides and water parks and activities. Made me want to be a kid so I could play in the water and go down the slide. Lots of spaces to walk the dog. Restaurant and expresso coffee shop. Restrooms were clean but a bit small and crowded for the size of the park itself. People would sit on benches right outside the shower doors to wait, so privacy was limited. Movies were geared for kids, and chuckwagon dinner was not available due to some sick horses, I heard from staff. Pancake breakfast outdoors allowed some socialization and freedom from cooking or having to go out. Very close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. Again, great place for kids, but we did not have any. Fun and friendly atmosphere. Volunteer young adult staff was also helpful.
This was our first KOA RV park stay. It is what made me search for other KOA parks the rest of our trip. I liked the size of it, very well kept and individual, private shower rooms were really nice and appreciated. Nice layout. Great hosts. We'd stay here again and for a longer time.
This park was pretty basic. Nothing special but not bad either. Small fenced in dog walk area where you can let your dog loose for a bit while you provide supervision or company for your pet. Very close to the Corn Palace, so very convenient.
If you want to be close to the casino, you cannot be any closer. The sites are basically in a large parking lot and as close together as one also. Not much shade or privacy. The hosts are friendly. If you have a site in the middle of the parking lot, you will either have to go uphill to the restrooms and showers, or walk to where the office is at the main entry if you want to stay on level ground, so if you plan to use the restrooms, chose your site accordingly. There is a nice little body of water to walk around with or without a dog.
