We've stayed at the park several times this year. We have two kids 13 and 10 and the Diamond Jacks hotel treats the RV folks as their own. We had total access to the hotel pool and work out room. The close proximity to the casino made it easy to run in a play a few hands of black jack. There is a train track next to the park but you don't really notice it at night with the AC units on. The park is close to a brand new River Walk area on the shores of the river. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. The staff at the park is always pleasant. We will always make this our stop when we go to Shreveport.
This park is literally right next to the Lagoon Amusement Park. We had a 30amp as there are limited 50amp spots. We have a 13 and 10 year old so this was just perfect for us. We received discount coupons for the park upon check in. The office also has a Subway sandwich shop and a great ice cream parlor. The laundry room was very clean and bathrooms were clean. I showered and didn't have any complaints. The amusement park stays open and lit until 10pm so if you stop here for relaxation you will not get that until then. Was fun to sit out and listen to the screams of roller coaster riders, us being among them one day. There is also a water park associated with the amusement park and you have access to that as well. You are able to bring in coolers with refreshments, but not glass. Not a bad time.
For a one night stay this is a fairly nice park. We pulled into a spot and walked over to the hotel to register. For $15 dollars we had cable, water and electricity. The park needs just a bit of maintenance with the weeds. The little house that we thought was the check in office was never occupied, but we were told that there is security at night by the Sky City Hotel staff. It is literally a spot in the road but they had a decent buffet and gambling if one preferred. Nice one night stop.
This is the second time we stayed here. We never have any problems getting in and out of spots. They do have a service available for cleaning your rig, we did not use it this time because the last visit we did and it "rained" in Vegas in the middle of the summer! The pool is a nice break from the extreme summer heat and there is the Silverton Casino across the highway if you don't feel like going downtown. They have a lounge area and a very limited workout room. We camped here with our 13 and 10 year old and they road their bikes around and we were comfortable with that. We will always return to this park. They have great security coming into and leaving the park so there are no worries in that area.
This was a busy park. It has tight turns so be specific when requesting your spot for your rig. The pool makes for a nice break after driving around the beautiful lake. On the weekend they have a huge tent set up and show movies and pop popcorn, sell pickles, sodas and such for family night at the movies. They also served breakfast every morning as well. Nice helpful staff. Quiet park despite the size and number of spots. There is a trolley that comes to the site though we never used it to go into town. We would stay here again.
This is a lovely park. We were out on the rock pads, there are several spots really tucked up under trees that we made mental note of for our next stay. Swimming pool was great for the kiddos to play in. Laundry and Bathrooms were spotless. Staff was very helpful and there was a great breakfast served every morning all you can eat kids under 10 $4.99 and adults $6.99. Very close to Durango for the hops into town. You can see the Durango Train going to and coming back from Silverton daily is a treat to see across the way.
Staff is remarkably nice and the area is really clean and well maintained. On our way back home we had our 40ft RV washed. When becoming a VIP member we paid only $85 for the wash and it was remarkably clean after 3700 miles on the road. We visited the lounge/restaurant area to catch up on some news and it was pleasant. We had a small leak on the motorhome and everyone that walked by offered to help in some way. We will stay here again on all our future trips.
This is a wonderful state park that combines waterfront sites, great hiking/wilderness activities with close proximity to Hot Springs. The sites were level and well maintained. The staff was absolutely delightful. I don't think we hit a special time or were treated out of the ordinary. All of the "state park of the year" commendation plaques in the main office would indicate that they have been doing a great job for a long time. Highly recommended.
