We were winding down our 3.5 month trip to Alaska and back, and having stayed at approximately 80 different campgrounds, this one is by far the nicest, cleanest place on the trip. Huge concrete pads with Astroturf (hey, at least it was green) and nice picnic tables. Staff was friendly and we wish we could've stayed longer. Highly recommend this park!
This is a very nice park with huge gravel spaces. The office has odd hours, closing at 5pm. We asked if we could have a campfire and they said yes, however there was no place to have one. Laundry facilities are old and in need of a good cleaning.
This is a very nice park out in the middle of nowhere, with a nice diner and spectacular views of the glaciers. We had ample room for our motor home and toad. The staff was very nice. Not a lot of choices on the Glennallen Hwy, but this was way above what we expected. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.
Ugh, what a dive. But as with everything in this neck of the woods, the choices are few. A gravel parking lot with bare necessities. They even had a sign that said "Do not leave your trash here, we have no means of disposing of it". Glad it was just a one night stopover.
This is a very nice park owned by a nice lady who works very hard at keeping it looking great. There aren't a lot of choices on the Alcan Hwy, and we were happy to find this little gem. Big sites and a great atmosphere. Recommend this place highly!
We stayed there twice in August and both times our stay was very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites are big and there's a place on the grounds to wash your rig after coming off the Top of the World highway (believe me, you'll need it). Make sure you eat at Fast Eddies, which is a short walk from the RV park. We would definitely stay here again.
This is a nice clean park with level sites. Don't stay in site 49 if you want peace and quiet with your campfire. There are two underground water pumping stations that are pretty loud and annoying. After the first night they let us move to a different site that was a lot nicer. The office staff was friendly and helpful.
This is one of the few parks to stay at on the Homer spit. We had a site directly on the water and it was beautiful. Your neighbors are a little close, but it's necessary to fit more campers in. We enjoyed the campfires right on the beach. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here twice, once on the way south to the Homer spit and then again going back north. The owner is very nice and friendly and the sites are big enough that you don't have to unhook the toad. It's a clean place and we enjoyed our stay there.
This park is the nicest and cleanest in Haines. The owners are friendly; however, we paid $50/night for 50 amp full hookup but was told when we checked in that if we used our air conditioner or electric heat it would be an additional charge of $3.50/day. We also needed a late checkout in order to catch the ferry which didn't leave till 11pm and was told we had to pay $10/hr for every hour after normal check out time. Much to our surprise, when we did check out at 5pm, the lady said there was no additional charge. She was not the owner however and I think the owners would've made us pay. It's a very nice park though, and expensive, but let's face it, most people are in Haines to catch the ferry so they can get away with charging whatever they want. The laundry facilities are very nice.
This is a very nice park. We had just gotten off the Alaskan Ferry and needed to replenish our cold items. We didn't meet the owner, but the gentlemen working the front desk were extremely nice and helpful. They told us where to shop for groceries, gave us a map of the area. The park was clean and quiet and we would definitely stay here again.
This is a very nice park. Neighbors are kinda close, but at least there's grass between the sites. Very long pull-throughs for big rigs. Wi-Fi was excellent and we were in the furthest site from the office. Cable was great and they had a lot of channels. Would absolutely stay here again!
This is a nice park and would've gotten a "10" if it weren't for the fact that we got blamed for causing a 4 site circuit to fail. It was warm when we pulled in on a Saturday and we ran our air conditioner. After a while, the power failed. They blamed us and we were told we could stay at the park but we couldn't plug back into the electric. We had to basically dry camp for 2 nights until Monday when we took our motorhome into the repair shop and after extensive testing, were told that there was nothing wrong with our unit and that others have come in from this park thinking something was wrong with their electricity when in fact, it is the park. You can't have 30amp service on 4 sites with others running air conditioners and not have something happen. The park is nice with decent space between units and is close to town, so it's convenient. Just beware if it's warm, you might get blamed for a power outage!
This is a nice park, for being the only one available in a very small town. The location right on the river makes for a beautiful setting. All the attractions, which are only a few, are no further than a couple of miles down the road. There's a nice restaurant along with gas pumps which makes it very convenient.
As another camper put it, this is a typical gravel parking lot campground. The spaces are tight and when we were there, our neighbor pulled in crooked and there was literally (we measured) 10 inches between our slide and theirs. We couldn't even put a chair beside our unit, although he had plenty of room on the other side of his. The owner is very nice and friendly, and easy to work with. Our spot was very close to the office and with our wifi booster, had perfect internet. Most activities are within walking distance. Would definitely recommend this park for your stay. Convenience is a big plus!
This park was horrible. The 30 amp service shut off 6 times in a half hour. We ran our generator just to cool the place down and were asked to shut it off, although nowhere in the park rules does it say no generators. Other big rigs were having the same problems and "management" who I suspect was the wife, was extremely rude, not only to us, but to others who dared to complain about it. We were going to stay 3 nights, but left after one. The sign in the office said1 no refunds, but I think they knew we would stop payment on the credit card so they gave us a refund on the other two nights. I would never recommend this park. Just drive a little further north and there are others that are much better.
The park is nice, wide open and very large spaces for big rigs. The owners were nice. 30 amp breaker popped once, because we shared it with the unit next door, but once they went inside the building and reset it, it didn't happen again. Would recommend this park. Charlie Lake has some history behind it and is within walking distance. Was pleased with this park.
We were here for 3 nights and had a back in site by the peaceful stream. It's a very crowded park and the campers are packed in, but it's clean at least where the overnighters are. The majority of campers/homes there are permanent, but the overnight section is very clean. The office staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
We made these reservations more than 6 months in advance, asked for pull through full hookup. When we checked in, we were told they didn't have anymore sites like that! Well, they did have one, but the sewer didn't work because the previous user plugged it up. So in order to get 50 amp, we had to unhook the toad and back in. There was a HUGE propane tank on the site that was about 2 feet from the front end of the motor home. There are a lot of "homesteaders" there and we were happy to stay only one night.
We made reservations here in Nov.2013 and was told would have full hookups, 50 amp pull through. When we got there, there was a sign on the trailer, which was also the office, to call this number. We tried, no answer. Finally someone came to the "office" and we were given our space, a nice pull through, but no 50 amp and no sewer. They had given those spots away already. We needed the sewer because we had laundry to do, so the manager suggested we use the neighbors sewer since he wasn't there. We had to go to Walmart and by more sewer hose to connect to his sewer. A poorly run park, but on the upside, it was very clean and well kept. Was okay for the one night.
Very nice park. Well kept, clean, quiet, beautiful views. WiFi is lousy. We had a WiFi booster for our computer which helped a great deal. About a 45 minute drive to Jasper. Stayed 3 nights in a motorhome. Would stay again.
First impression of this place was not good. The staff was cold and unfriendly. Though I had request a 50A site months previously and had paid for a 50A site, the one we were assigned and drove to (#5) was 30A. Returned to the office and was met with a very unfriendly attitude by 2 employees. A great number of semi-permanent campers here, all surrounded by knee-high grass. The advertised RV power wash has been taken out of service by new owners. Would not recommend this place!
This is a very nice park!! Super clean and enough off the road that road noise was non-existent. The owners were very nice. I related to them the story of the KOA where they wanted to charge $5 for our visitors for a couple of hours and they said they allow up to 6 visitors per paying campers. So nice! I would highly recommend staying here! A+++++++
This is the WORST KOA we have ever stayed at. We were in town to visit my husbands sister who is in very ill health. Several other adult family members had also come in to town to see her. We told them at the front desk we would be having some adult family members visiting us in the evening for some dessert. They wanted to charge $5.00 for each visitor! They said they had others in the past come in and swam in their pool. We assured them all of our visitors, 4 total, were 65+ and would not be swimming. Then they, and when I say "they" I mean the manager and his rude wife, told us that it costs money to drive on the gravel and pick up the extra trash generated by the extra guests. WHAT??? However, they did say we could go pick them up at the local drug store and bring them in! They kept coming up with excuses for wanting to charge $5 per person to come visit us for a few hours. We did not pay it and our 4 visitors came in and joined us for what could possibly be the last time we saw one of them. Shame on the owners! RUDE RUDE RUDE. NEVER AGAIN will we stay there and will discourage others from staying with them.
