Owners were really friendly and helpful. A very pretty lake. For friendliness I give them a 10+. Site seem fairly level, not to close together. Can get Directv with satellite, there are some trees, but most sites you can receive a signal. Verizon(tracfone) had three bars and was on 4g LTE. I would tell a friend and also I will stay here again. I just stayed for the night. Didn't use shower or restrooms so can't comment on those. Getting into the drive do watch it; it is narrow, but they have it marked well. It says .30 miles to the park after coming off of I-49; it will be on the left. Their sign is not real big, but it seems most RV parks aren't. Great owners.
GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 31.10667, -94.10722 31°6'24"N, 94°6'26"W This little park is at the top of our list! Such great views of sun rise and sun set. We stayed in site 45. Site #39 is called the point we didn't take it due to the trees and our satellite wouldn't pick up signal. Any sites a long water are great. Nice big sights that are paved and pretty much level. The gate host has been here for 8 years I don't blame them. Sites 31 thru 38 are pull-through. I really thought against posting this park review due to more people knowing about it. For most of the week we were only ones here. There's boat ramps here also and a lot of people catching fish, also tent camping. The park shows a lot more camp sites, but a lot have been gated and locked. From 30 to 49 are only ones open and 1 of those seemed not to be used. The rate quoted above reflects using our Senior Pass which cut the fees in half. Park Rangers and host where great, very helpful, one of the friendliest parks we been in.
Really nice view from premium site 57. Site wasn't real level, it had sewer, but it was up hill from sewer pipe, electrical was close to road (not having extension cord) had to park closer to road. Some one was having family reunion in park and playing rap music, rangers never said turn it down. They patrolled pretty regular, but they didn't stop. I'd stay here again, weekend you just got to see whats up and hunker down. Only are I'd stay is in premium sites by lake, rest of it looks rough. Texas SP amazes me they charge $25 a night and $7. dollars a day for gate others state do it also, but some remove it.
We would stay here again. NUWA owners had a rally here with 16 5 vers and us a Cameo. The TBONE the bar was closed so we didn't have any noise from there. Sites where level, had full 30 amps, 50 amps and sewer. Owners should put up a sign! We could possibly do rally here next year. We'd stay here again. No bath house, no picnic tables, no pavilion and no WI-FI, but we'd stay again.
I'd stay here again if I needed to. I didn't even ask for the discount Pass Port America. They had WI-FI, but didn't us it. My satellite did get reception. I could see if you where in first 4 site you might not. I felt like sites where fairly level - better than most of Texas State Parks. I would tell a friend about the place. For a couple nights stay it would be okay.
We would stay here again. Price was a little high at $28, but it was for premium site (site 19 was a pull-through) which is on the lake, After October 1st all Louisiana campgrounds drop in price when premium is $20 and not premium is $18. Park employees are great; they patrol campground at least every 2 hours up to 10:30pm and front gate is employed until then. There are some shade sites which are close to lake. Our satellite Directv wouldn't pick up signal, which is okay. In back area site have less trees. I'm sure it would there. Verizon had one bar signal great, Millenicom internet was great. Really nice camp.
We will stay here again was in site 35 - awesome view of lake. Some site had decks. If you look at map - our site around where we stayed was the best lake sites. Before September 30, prices are $28 after October $20 for premium $18 for not. We like South Toledo Bend more than North. Lot more to do and you are closer to lake.
Really liked this park! A lot of history, it was part of the Battle of Vicksburg. A great fire tower to see the river. Also you can drive down and set close to the river and watch barges. Lost are close together on the bottom, upper was hard to get in we dragged back bottom. They said it had better cel coverage. I had to walk up the hill to get it, but still nice. Would stay here again.
A nice State Park, clean, friendly people and very helpful. The park is 10 plus years old, but it seemed newer. Lot of hiking trails, nice lake. In sites 38-42 are BIG pull thru, sites 43-54 are shade sites I was in a 38footer if I knew these where there I would have park there. Nice camp ground I would stop here again.
Park is a good clean park, has a power plant that makes lots of noise during day, but at night quiets down due to less electric consumption I guess. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms! But the ants be ready for them, they think RV's are lunch boxes and they seemed to learn how to get into them, power cords, water hose and any thing touching your RV. We used WD40 on power cord and water hose wife though it would work and it did. Bring some good and a lot of ant spray. It's not fun if they get inside, I promise you, but if they don't great park; I'll go back.
Nightly rate was $30-40 per night. With Passport America was only $15. Great people at store. We called in earlier in the day and when we got there they knew our name. A big park. Roads are wide, pull-throughs are really big and place was easy to get to. Franklin seems to be great little town. I would stay here again without a problem. Their website is not working.
We stayed three nights. Very small spaces, had to go out and move my truck for they could come in with a motor home. Really not a place to park tow truck. Lots are really close together a picnic table can fit in between. Could never get cable to work. WIFI worked for me but not wife's computer. Couldn't put dish up a lot of trees, trees not bad really. The people where nice that checked us, when they finally got to the desk, we arrived at three pm. It took for ever to get checked in. If I was to stay another three nights I'D find another place, I would stay one night if I had to. 1st KOA I stayed in and they do want to nickel and dime you. My guests drove in, picked us up and the owner didn't say any thing, but the owner didn't see it, either.
For a over nighter, it was good. Easy off from I-30 and traffic noise all night long. Mostly people living there full time - 90% or more. Park was clean, lady in office was very nice, plenty of places to eat close by, and nice pull throughs sites. I'd stop here for another one nighter if I have to but never longer.
