We camp at Tom's Cove every July 4th. They try to get you the section you want with the groups you are camping with, however it is all done with index cards. It would be easier for all if they went to the computerized reservation system but they still do it the old fashioned way. We always have a good time once we get there. Lots are all sizes and shade varies through the park. Nice staff and nice camp store. Chincoteague is a great town and Tom's Cove is our favorite campground on the island!
We always enjoy camping at Trap Pond. You can fish from a dock or bring a boat and go out. You can rent a paddleboat from the other side of the pond. There is an awesome walking/bike trail around the pond. There is a small playground in the campground or a real big one on the other side of the pond. They are real strict on quiet time! We will go back!
We have camped at Fort Whaley many times and will continue to camp there. Nice field for the kids to play football in. Can bring golf cart or rent one for the weekend. Staff always friendly. Ocean City is close enough but not too close! Nice little pond to fish in as well. One of our favorites!
We will never camp here again. We have been campers for over 18 years and have camped in many campgrounds in Maryland. The owner is a rude man. We were given incorrect information regarding "late stay" from the office. Originally told $20 to stay late and they took the 20$ and later being told the cost to stay late is a whole extra night ! I explained that to the owner and asked him if he kept the $20 extra that I had already paid and we would be out in about an hour, so we would only have been about 1 1/2 hours later then regular check out time. I thought I was being more than fair since I was given incorrect information from his employees. He said that was fine. About 30 minutes later the owner is at our camper rudely yelling at me that I said we would be out in 10 minutes. I don't know anyone who could be packed up and out in 10 minutes! I tried to explain that I said 1 hour not 10 min. He asked why the kids were playing football if we were packing up. I again tried to explain that they had done all they could to help us pack and that they were occupying themselves while my husband and I finished up. He continued to yell at me with the reddest face I have ever seen. I informed this rude man that we would never camp there again and believe me we won't. It's a shame that businessman would conduct himself in such a manner and ruin his campground's reputation.
