The staff was very friendly. Very clean facility. Easy in and out access, full hook-ups, lots of trash containers, which is usually not the case in state parks. Negatives: lots of hurricane damage but obviously out of their control, and no fire pits. Was looking forward to a campfire, but couldn't have one. We are planning to stay here again at Memorial Day.
Driving in to this park was interesting, but once inside, it's beautiful, until you spot the electric plant on the opposite side of the lake. We had a waterfront spot, and when I say waterfront, I mean waterfront! The dogs had a ball chasing each other through the mud at the edge of the lake. Large spaces and friendly workers quickly came to our rescue when we couldn't get the electric to work. The electric plant was quite a disappointment, and a little noisy. Lots of great hiking trails and very quiet. Would stay again.
Camped here during spring break. We stayed in the only location that takes reservations, and had to resesrve 6 months in advance. For this lake to be so beautiful we were extremely disappointed in the filthy bathrooms and extremely unpleasant camp hosts. Camp hosts acted as though they were being inconvenienced when asked questions, such as where to find the nearest store or firewood. River front spots are so poorly designed that there is no way to enjoy the beautiful view you've been given access to. In the open camping area, the sites are so close together you may be lucky to find a place to park your tow vehicle. Will never go back!
This park is one of the nicest we've ever been to. We camped during the week of Thanksgiving. Beautiful grounds, lots of hiking, lots of children playing, very clean. Just a great experience! Can't wait to go back this summer and experience everything!
