This campground is super! We stayed in the Castaways section. The bathrooms and showers were clean every time we used them. We used them at various times throughout the day and never a mess! We also used bathrooms outside of the Castaways area and they were always clean as well. The laundromat was clean and well-kept also. They are very dog friendly with a great dog park area and swimming beach. The store was well-stocked and the cafe food was decent, but obviously on the high side of prices. There were plenty of activities for kids. They had transportation to the beach and Asseteague, although we did not use it. Sites are level and roomy, even in the section outside of Club Castaways. Staff was always very friendly and helpful.
We were in site 610 directly across from the bay. Absolutely beautiful sunsets! This campground has plenty of family activities, crafts (fee), games, bingo, dj's, bands etc. 4 piers for fishing and crabbing. Canoe, kayak and boat rentals. Very pet friendly. 4 pools were very nice with chairs and umbrella tables. Store was well stocked. Restaurant was ok for a quick bite, but pricey and greasy. Bikes and golf carts can not be used at night and they don't kid around with that rule and it was a little ridiculous trying to get events without bikes or golf carts, now you end up with vehicle traffic which is worse. The bathrooms were acceptable, but I felt they could've been cleaned up more than once a day. Site had used wood in the fire pit and small bits of trash and cigarette butts around when we pulled in. The mini golf course was only $2.00, but was very run down. I gave it a 9 mostly because the views and access to the water make it fantastic, but there was room for improvements in the areas I mentioned.
This was the old Eagles Nest Campground. Totally gutted and re-done. We were in the Club Castaways section which you pay more for as it has "extra" amenities like a pool for campers in that area only. That pool wasn't open yet, but was constructed and is ridiculously small. The sites in this area are large and paved with an additional paved area for the car. The main pool is brand new and very nice, but much too small for the size of the campground. The staff was so-so and didn't really see much of them. Not a lot of activities going on. They really just opened so I can't be too harsh in their rating. If they get their act together with some better planned activities, friendlier staff and perhaps add another pool, they will be a great campground. The bathrooms are very nice and were always clean.
What a great family campground and amusement park! We camped in site 51 in the Canadian section and our friends had cabins 1,2 and 3 right behind us. It worked perfectly! The cabins are very rustic and basic but clean. Front porch with picnic table, inside with double bed and a ladder to a loft with 2 full size mattresses on the floor. A counter and electricity. The bathrooms are dated, but were clean. Sinks on the outside of the bathhouse but individual toilet "rooms". There is only electric at the site, nothing else. You can fill up with water on your way in. The store is well-stocked and staff is friendly. Some tent sites have a large platform to set up on. The amusement park is attached to the campground and an easy walk right into it, but there is also a shuttle that runs throughout the campground. The park is very reasonable in cost and we were able to feel comfortable sending our group of teens in by themselves when we had had enough. There is no entrance fee and you can get a hand stamp or pay per ride. This place is a best-kept secret and we had a great time. We have camped here a couple of times and it's been great every time. I gave it an 8 only because the bathrooms are dated and the lack of hook-ups but for a few nights stay it is super!
We had a log cabin and an extended log cabin. For the few extra dollars, the extended log cabin is a better deal. The extended is newer and seemed cleaner. It had a separate room with 2 double beds and a bunk over each one sleeping 6 people. It also had a bunk bed in the front room with a big picnic table, 2 plastic chairs a big counter top area with a refrigerator and microwave. Front porch also had a full-size picnic table. The log cabin had a smaller refrigerator, microwave, small counter area and one double bed in that area and then a separate small room(no door) with two twin beds. That cabin could've been cleaner. Cobwebs and pine needles on the one bed. Dusty corners. The bathrooms were clean first thing in the morning, but by evening, they needed refreshed for sure. Grounds were well-kept and staff friendly. Shuttle service to Hershey by bus.
What a great place! Campsites are large and everything here is very clean and well-run. Entertainment most nights is very good, kids loved it. All paved roads. The main section is most centrally located to store and exit. The two other sections involve very large hills that would be difficult for most to bike up or for some even walk! On the other hand there is very little traffic in those sections of the park so people with very young children that don't go out and about on their own may prefer those areas. The staff was friendly, but quite young and steered us wrong a couple of times on directions and restaurants, but they were nice. The only other thing I felt was missing was some type of daily craft or actvitity during the day. Most people are out hiking or biking, but some of us aren't and my kids would've enjoyed that, but other than those few issues the place was fantastic. One of my top two!
We were here for four nights over the 4th of July. Our site was 220 and while it was long and there was nothing but woods behind us, it was narrow. Our view was of the huge motorhome right next to us. The park was well-kept and clean. Store was stocked ok with basics. Bathrooms were clean. They had plenty of family-type activities and lots of Bingo. Pool was a little small, but it was a crowded weekend. There is no lifeguard at the pool. They really needed at least a staff member as a group of young men got out of control on Sunday, using very foul language, flipping into the pool and splashing. Drove a lot of families out of the pool. Has some nice walking trails through the woods next to the creek. Were very pet friendly, but DO NOT leave them unattended outside your camper, pet thefts have happened. Staff was friendly and helpful. Other sites were larger. Evening entertainment was good, band one night, DJ another. Overall a nice stay.
The lake is nice, not huge, but nice sandy beach, snack bar right here. We were in site T2 which was close to the lake and fairly large. Site T1 that our friends were in was larger. Went in bathhouses, they were clean but are in desparate need of upgrades. They are very old and dated. No soap or papertowels. Some roads were rough, others had been resurfaced. Pool was big, clean and warm, but nothing fancy. Store was well stocked but somewhat pricey. Staff was friendly enough. No kid events this weekend, actually no entertainment at all. A tram ride(which the kids and I like) also a movie which they didn't charge for, but they charged $2.50 for a very small bag of popcorn. There were no giveaways of anything at this campground. The landscaping needed upkeeping. It was about 80% seasonal and 20% transients. Some of the seasonals should be made to clean up or leave. Very unkempt. I don't think I will be returning, while we enjoyed the lake and the close proximity to Sea Isle City, I can stay at much nicer, better kept campgrounds in the area. The owner really needs to put some money back into the campground. There should be family activities every weekend.
This is our favorite campground! Super clean and well-run. The owner is quite strict about rules, so don't try to break them! B ut that is also what makes this campground so nice! Quiet hour is enforced. The pool area is beautiful, cute cafe to grab a bite to eat and a swim up slusshy bar! My kids love this place. It is the cleanest campground we have ever been to. Sites are all well-shaded, except for the huge pull through sites. There are alot of seasonals, but most are friendly. Nice hiking trails. Great proximity to all the Lancaster attractions. Lake is small, but nice, no swimming, fishing only. Sites for tents have a spot to pitch your tent which is lined with cedar chips for a softer sleeping area. The owner really has thought of everything!
We stayed in a beachfront site which was VERY close to the ocean. You can't see the ocean because of the dunes, but you can hear it. Sites are back in. Be sure to request your preference or you might end up facing the back of your neighbors camper instead of the ocean. Pool area was nice, campground was well-run. Activities were lame and everything cost money. If you are traveling with someone, you want back to back, not side to side. Sites are very close together, not alot of privacy here. We would go back. Campstore was well-stocked.
